How you doing pal?
I'm doing pretty good. Don't you need smoke detectors according to code? I thought so, but dad hasn't built any houses since I was like 7 so I'm not sure.

My latest sagas with dumb customers.

I'm working weekends as a cashier in a small orchard store. It's built into their warehouse. I'm the only one there from probably 10:15 to 5:45 or so except for 5 or 10 minute visits from the boss to make sure I found everything I needed. People get SO STUPID around orchards. Mainly because of all the agri-tourism in my area. They see an orchard and think amusement park basically. They automatically assume they can go pick apples or have a picnic. WRONG. It's a working orchard not a place to spend the weekend. If you want apples we've got em. $1.49/lb and we even picked em for you! So I got pissed and asked the boss if we could get a sign that says "NO PICK YOUR OWN"

Boss puts out a sign that says "No pick your own apples" So now I get people coming in and asking "Do you have pick your own *insert fruit other than apple here*?"

Right now I'm struggling to get dad moving on projects that need to be done before snow starts falling. I keep asking him about it and he says "We'll work on it next week." Well I start school Tuesday! Not gonna work!

I've still got to pull up and re-lay our entire front walk at the house as well as we need to swap axles on our 95 7.3 we're gonna use as a plow truck. Currently it's got single rears. We want duals on it. Dual wheels do not bolt up to a single rear wheel axle apparently. So we've got the axle from a DRW truck that we intend to put on it. My next biggest challenge is getting one of the old U-bolts off without torching it so we can get new ones made up. Keep in mind this axle is from the mid 90s and spent its whole life in the rust belt...

Thanks for remembering.
Things are looking very good. He got out of bed today and ate a meal at the table.
What happened is he had a load of plaque in his arteries.
That produces rough edges and the human blood starts doing it's job, clotting up against the edge to "prevent bleeding".
Well we all know that the heart is in the middle of everything and it's not really bleeding, but the blood plasma doesn't know any better and it starts clogging up the arteries of the heart.
He ended up with one arterie totally blocked and another (mostly) partially blocked.
They went up into the heart, through his leg with that stint machine, installed a stint, flushed out all the loose plaque, and for good measure, installed a pace maker.
That was yesterday.
Today they removed the pacemaker and he is doing fine on his own.
Still needs that second stint put in, I don't know why they are not doing it now.

If I were in your line of business, I would be calling you to talk about working for me.
I try and treat everyone honestly and fairly, both the customers and the people that work for me.

Speaking from a mechanic's point of view now, I never could understand why people needed to make up a story about what is needed to be done.
There is PLENTY of HONEST work to be done, just communicate that!

That's one hell of a story Tom... I would have loved to have seen the look on those *******s faces when they walked in and saw you! LOL!

Evening everyone! Hope y'all had a good day!
Cris, thank you for remembering Dick in your prayers.

Morning everyone. Rain, rain, rain, rain, rain, and more rain around here. Rained several inches in less than an hour yesterday.

Might have to sit in on some interviews at work in the coming weeks. Hiring a graphic designer in a different department..that should prove interesting.

Thanks, Dan. It means a lot to me that you think so highly of me.

I could be your token female mechanic.

Your FIL looks like a fun guy. I hope he continues to get better.

morning All!

110°F today...trying to get an early start and stay out of the hottest part of the day.

Dan, glad your FIL is doing better!

Lisa, I bet after a year of wrenching you would be as good as half the techs I used to work with at Drivetime.

Imagine doing your job if you had to by your own computer...

Morning Steve!

Pretty good steve. Annoyed. My feet are wet. I hate wet feet!!! It was moderately raining when I left the house. Had to drop by the store to buy a card and flowers for a co-workers birthday, and got completely drenched. Getting from the truck and into the building at work wasn't anymore successful. My hair DID look good this morning.

Maybe. I pick things up rather quickly, but I learn better if someone shows me something rather than tells me. when I do my own tech work, if its something I've never done before, I can usually read the manual but I need the instructions in front of me while I'm doing it.

Ehh, you'd be surprised. I have somewhat-naturally curly hair. Well, no..its not even curly...just naturally wavy-frizzy. When I blow it dry it is straight and stays that way unless there is a really high humidity factor...or unless I get sprayed with 10 gallons of water.

Now I just look like I had way too much fun last night.
