Part of the problem with this particular Jeep is that it sat in a garage for a few years, ample time for rubber parts to crack and fail.

That jeep with 80k should be nowhere close to be needing a pasture
with the 6 or so smallblock mopars I owned I was only able to kill one and I drag raced several on a regular basis
If the engine runs good after the tune up I would worry first about water leak,if it's external all should be good
If it had a couple week or non firing cylenders that could explain oil on plugs, worse case might possibly be valve guide seals that can be replaced in a hour once valve covers are off

Thanks Brent. I will be careful no matter what happens. Whether I end up going or staying home, I'm going to be in icy or snowy conditions one way or another.

I get to drive 5 hours tonight to get back to Edmonton, and we are supposedly have record cold weather!

And to boot i have to drive the honda civic, cause the hotel they got me in doesnt have plug in parking for my truck, and with recold cold temperatures, Id rather it stay home and the woman use it.

With the proper tools valve guides seals are a walk in the park. But I was thinking about maybe JT's idea of the valve covers leaking. If it runs alright and is not consuming oil I don't think I would even worry about it.

VC gaskets are surely a possibility, and I'm with you if it's not using a lot of oil or smoking excessively I wouldn't bother with the seals

Damn, I love this one. My youngest daughter, whom y'all met over Thanksgiving is married to a Canuck. I gotta try this one on him and his family.

I hate to admit it but not having the OT show up on the main 7.3 page is driving me nuts!

We were both stumped at that one. Tried to pull it out, but it was not moving. However the input shaft on the trans didn't look scarred up at all from it, so we just left the bushing in there and didn't use the new bearing. I figured that was best, especially because if the bearing seized up, there would be steel on steel, which could damage the input shaft.

.
Some vehicles have bushings, some bearings and some can be changed from one to the other
There are a few ways to remove them one is with a puller made for the occasion, another is to pack the cavity with grease and take something same size as pilot and drive into the bushing and it will normally pop out.Yet another is to run a tap through the bushing and push it out

Ray, that's pretty creative. Never would have thought about the grease trick. Pretty cool! You think it'll be okay just leaving the bushing in there though? Not that I'm really going to pull the whole trans and clutch to change it out, but just thinking if I might have trouble down the road.

I've not found that a bearing is better than a bushing

I've used both a bunch. Why?????????? I don't know, but I do know for some reason I always used a bearing in my race cars. Memory banks on that one are dead as to why I did that.
