I must say that I am impressed with your knowledge of current events, and you're obviously a well educated young man. You are a refreshing change from the perceived norm for your generation.
My wife is a Literature teacher at a small private Christian school, that is basically a college prep school. I must say that your thought and composition abilities are much higher than some of her junior class. My wife of course grades longer essays and journals at home on the weekends. She has shown me some of the essays, and research papers her students have written, and I am just floored. one sentence paragraphs, one word sentences, etc.....
Pete, your parents have done a great job in raising you thus far, and you have done a great job in listening and actually understanding what is going on in the world around you. Keep up the good work.

The Toyota, was it a 22R?

Moral of the story: If you have any current pets make sure the current pets will get along with other animals before you bring them home.
By the way, that dog sounds like a pu$$y.
I agree as well. I've known college educated, professional people who were not as composed as Pete.

That's actually the same exact type of school I go to, Brandon. The whole highschool is 40-45 people. It's actually nice because I know everyone. For such a small school it is VERY sports-oriented. As I mentioned way earlier in the post I play soccer. Mainly because even if we managed to get every guy in our highschool to play football we still wouldn't have enough for a team. Our sports options consist of soccer and basketball for the guys and volleyball and basketball for the girls. Surprisingly for a small school we bring home trophies every year for our league. And I'm not talking about the "You suck, but have a trophy anyways" kind. I mean like first and second place in the league. It seems like our school is pretty shallow in that sort though. Last year I played no sports and I was sort of an outcast. This year I picked up soccer and I talk with everyone. Maybe I've just matured, but I don't think it would've been that drastic of a change.
On the whole topic of writing my English teacher drills all this writing garbage into my brain so much that it just comes out right without me even thinking about it. Last year she made us write a 15 chapter story over the course of the year. Mine was about a WWII pilot who was in the Battle of Britain then got shot down over occpied France when he was on a bomber escort mission. In stories where you use dialogue a one sentence paragraph can be the correct thing though. When you change speakers in a story that uses dialogue you are supposed to start a new paragraph.
Now to address the subject of my generation.
From what I've seen with my generation most expect to have everything handed to them, and for the most part it is. One of the girls in my school, who is a Junior, got a brand new Honda Civic last year. She paid 2,500$ and her grandpa and parents paid the remaining 15,000$ or so. AND SHE COMPLAINS ABOUT THE 2500!!!! She's a nice enough person, but seriously. Nobody is willing to do real work. I've worked for everything I have. The only time I have anything handed to me is at Christmas or on my birthday. A perfect example of my generation's work ethic is this: Last month we had a day where the whole highschool went out to the homes of elderly people who couldn't clear the leaves and sticks off their yards and we cleaned their yards. In September I bought myself a STIHL BR600 backpack blower. I brought it along to help out and move things along faster and people complained becasue they had to rake and I didn't since I was using the blower.
Last note on this post before I submit it since it's getting so long.
A BR600 gets heavy after a day of using it. With no fuel it weighs in at somewhere near 23 pounds. My feet hurt at the end of that day. Especially since we walked to all the houses we did.
Nolan......carrying a knife, or a gun in that neighborhood is only going to get you landed in JAIL. It seems its only a matter of time before you're forced to use them. California isn't exactly friendly on self defense laws. Isn't there a neighborhood within driving distance from your work you could MOVE to? You need to remove yourself from that envirornment before it gets worse! I am merely talking outta my *** here, because I live somewhere with VERY little crime. Murder is actually front page here......about once every 5 years, not everyday like da ghetto

I think it's going to be impossible for us NOT to talk about Trucks in here. Obviously......we like em. We wouldn't be here without our TRUCKS. This sure doesn't feel like home......or a hotel either. Dunno what is next for our campfire, but I'm not giving up! We've become good friends in here, at least they can't take THAT away from us

I must have missed something, but I am unsure as to how the color of the cat has anything to do with this story.
By the way, that dog sounds like a pu$$y.
I agree as well. I've known college educated, professional people who were not as composed as Pete.
I failed to elaborate on the point of the cat's coloring. The basement stairs get dark. The cat is gray. The dog sticks her nose in because she smells the cat, but cannot see him since it is dark and he is gray so he blends in.
The cat then swipes at the dog's nose and then she runs away.
The cat got her good right above the nose one time and the dog has been scared ever since.
And you guys better stop with the complements or I won't be able to fit my head through the door!

I agree, my dogs wouldnt allow that stuff.
If he wouldnt have said how old he was I would have thought he had a college degree already.

My dog is good with other animals, but turn on the vacuum and you'll find her cowering in the corner shaking like a damn leaf. She is also afraid of flyswatters and brooms. Not bothered by the lawn mower though.
I am confident something will turn up. I have never had a problem finding a job. I need to start digging up more information about teaching certificates, and work-to-teach programs.

Anyway, I'm off to hit the rack -- gotta get going early tomorrow. Flying to Reno tomorrow....

EDIT: Lisa --> I know something will come up for you. Keep after it, and it'll fall in place. After I got laid off, I took all these military deployments to cover my @$$, and in the mean time, I got the Samsung gig. BTW, we're hiring -- need a couple more folks. Anybody know someone in the DFW area looking for work???
Plus I think the dog must like it or something because he's also got a book case near my computer that he sleeps on and she sits at the bottom and barks at him.
They're very confused animals.
