Just waiting on the Smarty to get here, and to get the SKIM code bypass/delete file that goes into the Smarty. Then I use the Smarty to clear that SKIM code from the ECM and no more 2K rev limit!!!

So basically, I'm waiting on parts...again.

PS hose is fixed and hopefully I'll make it home in time tomorrow to pick it up. If not, I'll get it first thing Thursday morning. I'm also going to make myself a backup hose to carry with me, the same way Kai did. He simply used some hard line and some high pressure compression fittings, ordered from McMaster-Carr, on the steel end by the pump fitting to make the hose longer, leaving the factory hose and crimps intact.

Talked to Bob Wagner today, who's the guy that supplies all the Smarty programmers to the US. He said my Smarty shipped yesterday and it should be at my house tomorrow. I also emailed him the VIN from the engine so the file can be written to bypass the SKIM code. He's got to email that to a guy named Marco, who does all the programming for the Smarty. I'm not sure where Marco is located, but the time difference is 9 hours. I'm hoping that I got the VIN to Bob early enough this evening that he can get it to Marco and I'll get the file needed tomorrow or Thursday. Either way, it looks like the truck should be up and running without the 2K limit by the weekend.

I'm thinking that Thursday or Friday I'll be able to get the truck to the AC shop to have the lines made and get the truck closer to being 100% finished.

What type of gains does the Smarty do for Dodges? I'm guessing it's the cat's Meow for Cummins like DP is for PSD? My brother drives a Cummins, but he's all stock so I've never heard much about type of chips, etc for that motor...

The Smarty is one of a couple power adders available for the Cummins. The TST box is another big one. The Smarty is a downloader (plugs into the OBD II port) and the TST is a plug in programmer that is physically attached to the truck. As of late, the Smarty seems to be the preferred of the two, although they are also stackable. The TST does have a little more adjustability than the Smarty when it comes to things like rail pressure and timing. I've got experience with the TST on Jeff's truck and I kind of want to see what the Smarty is like now.

Without getting into a lot of the details of the two, I'll just say that the Smarty is a little better on the low end and the TST box is a little better on the top end, although recent gains on the Smarty have some saying it rivals or betters the TST box. No doubt the Smarty is a darn good piece.

As far as HP addition goes...on a completely stock motor it's been tested to add 170 HP to the engine.
Here's what the company has to say about it:
"Tested on stock trucks on a Mustang Dyno.
Stock means just that. Stock! Even the air filters were stock...

The trucks were S T O C K, even the wastegate settings!
We checked the "baseline" ( the stock truck Hp at the rear
wheels ) twice in a day in order to be sure about our findings.
The above declared HP numbers are all rounded down to the
closest number. For example the 90 Hp file actually did 96 Hp.
That's a 90 Hp software for me, not a 100. The 170 Hp was 174."

Now, with other modifications to the engine, such as injectors, fuel systems, turbo, intake, etc...the gains with a Smarty will be even more. For example, in my case, I'd estimate that with my modifications and stock programming, I"m probably at 300-325 RWHP. Now, with the Smarty programming set to the max, I should be at ~575 RWHP, so the Smarty will add more like 250 HP to my particular setup.

No Smarty today. It's coming Priority Mail, so I didn't have a definite delivery date, just thought it would be today. Hoping for tomorrow. Didn't get the file I need for the SKIM code today anyway, so the Smarty wouldn't do much good tonight.

Hmmm, well I better stop drinking and pack the truck. I have less than 24hrs to get out to MO and put the smackdown on Jeremy's truck while I can.

Easy now Mike might get out there running circles around him and that 2K truck will be towing you back to Middle TN.

So Jeremy have you figured up a final cost for this entire conversion?

First drive is already done...well, not with the rev limit gone, but I've got about 80 miles on it so far. Only reason I haven't been driving it more is the busted PS hose, but I picked up the new/repaired hose this evening, so I can start driving it again tomorrow. I'll get some vids of the full power runs once the engine's broken in and I throw some big HP tunes on it though.

Not to the exact dollar, but I have estimated that I've spent around $13K-$14K on everything, and got back around $5K-$6K from selling 7.3 parts. Plus, I still have some stock 7.3 and 5.9 parts that I can sell for a little bit on eBay and recoup a few more dollars. I'd say my total outlay was somewhere around $7k-$9K, which is right about what I had figured it would be. I wanted to come in under $10K total cost and be close to 600 HP, which is how it turned out.
