Jeremy, try and get them not to require you to relinquish all rights to it so it can be published on other sites (DESTROKED.COM, etc).

Could the gear vendor's unit even hold up under all that power? I can picture something that looks like a beer can thats all twisted up.

Yes, they are rated for over 1200hp. Even with only close to 400hp, I can shift mine with no clutch and it doesn't even blink. They can hold the hp, but they will not increase hp#'s on a dyno. It just allows you to keep the RPM's in the sweet spot pulling heavy, or keep the rpms low at cruising speed.

Thats what I thought I know I have seen a few high horsepower trucks sporting the gear vender ODs, it would be alright to be going 80 at under 2K anyways sorry for the hijack.

Thanks Kris. I'll be sending you a PM here in a bit. I tried a different sensor today, but still not working. I'd like to have a good, known working sensor to help me diagnose this thing.

I'll be starting a new thread here in a bit too, because I don't think this problem has anything to do with the conversion.

I'll be going with a kit called the Evil Twins. It's a complete kit, minus the pump. The Evil Twins kit runs about $1600. Then the other cost is an additional CP3 pump which I would supply. I've been keeping my eyes out for a CP3 pump, but haven't found one yet. I'm trying to find one for $300-$400, but am only looking at new pumps, not used.

I haven't given any thought at all to a OD unit. At this time though, I don't think it's something I'll be doing. Perhaps sometime in the future though. This engine can definitely pull hard down low.

You'll have to update your You Tube 'rolling coal' video to a new 'really rolling coal' video.

BTW, I've got a modified Duramix CP3 (don't ask), it won't be around $300-$400, but it is 'new.'

Diesel Power has/had a 2wd Dodge CCSB truck that has a Gear Vendors OD in it, and they drag race it. I'm sure it's well over the out put of jeremy's truck.

Do you also happen to have a front cover for a 7.3 that accepts it?

Alright Jeremy, I was hoping you would post after the week driving and not having issues. How is the truck performing, have you cranked up the smarty?

Also I have a gas engine truck how much more crap would I have to go through to do a conversion on it?

Congrats again, we are all as glad as you are that you got it running the way you want.

Well, I really don't have much to say yet, other than I've come to the conclusion that this truck should have definitely come with this engine from the factory! It flat out rocks. Power is very smooth, sound is awesome, and it's just more fun to drive than the 7.3 was.

I haven't cranked up the Smarty yet, because I'm not taking the chance on washing out the cylinders with fuel, diluting the oil with fuel and risk potential damage to rod or main bearings. The Smarty does have some extra fuel put to it over stock, but the turbo is still able to clean it up. I've got about 700 miles on the motor so far, and I'm not yet ready to put more fuel to it. So Kris can say what he wants, call me names, etc...and that's fine. I've put too much time and money into this project thus far to risk permanent damage to the engine just to have a little extra fun. I am patient enough to wait for that.

My coolant gauge is still not working properly, but I haven't had time to get the pinpoint test out yet and see where the problem may lie. Not a big deal though because it's not affecting the way it runs and my Autometer gauge tells me the actual temp. I'll get it figured out though.

Also, there's something with the VSS wire I used, taking a little bit to get signal to the ECM on first start, limiting RPM to 2K for a few seconds. It only happens when I start the truck though, and after that it's fine. I'm not sure why that happens, but Bean told me to use a speedometer output wire on the PCS and that it works perfectly, so I'll change that over this weekend.

I got the AC lines made yesterday as well, but haven't charged the system yet, since a buddy is doing that for free. I've got to wait on his schedule to get the system charged.

On the electronic tach box, Scott (Destroked) received the test unit from PCS, found some issues with it, and has sent it back to PCS for revision. So, my tach is not functioning now, but that was by choice to wait for the PCS box rather than put a tone wheel on it.

Otherwise, all seems well.

Toyman, I don't think you'd have to go through too much more. Main things I'm thinking of is a couple items you'd have to add such as a hydraboost system and an intercooler. Also, I'm not sure if the radiator is of a different size and if the diesel one might be larger, which you'd want to get. Aside from that, none of the diesel stuff is used in a conversion.

I have been searching for a donor truck cheap but haven't stumbled accross the right deal as of yet. Actually looking for something in the late 90's.
