Sorry guys, no dice. Had some trouble getting the Smarty to connect to my computer, but finally got it connected. Loaded the recovery file, updated the ECM, went for a test drive, still have the 2K rev limit. Frustration ensued.
I took a break from it after that because I was just getting more frustrated and needed to leave it alone, went to help Jeff clean up the lot where he's building his new house and was burning all the scrap wood, and made a few phone calls. Got some promising info.
Kai was stumped, but made a call to Scott at Destroked. After thinking through things for a bit, Scott wondered if I had Vehicle Speed Sensor hooked up to the ECM. I do not. Apparently some years of the Cummins need a VSS signal to the ECM in order for them to be able to rev. No VSS, and revs are limited. The '03 engines don't need one, and it was sometime in '04 that the change was made. Kai remembered people telling him he needed to hook up a VSS, but he didn't have to because he's got an '03 engine. It's been 2 years since he did his conversion, so I can't fault him for forgetting about that, especially since he didn't have to do it.
So I've got my wiring diagrams back out and plan to hook up the VSS to the ECM in the morning and hope for the best. I'm ready for this thing to work right.
FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS SMOKEY AND FAST!!!!!!!! The suspense is killing me! LOL Be patient brother, it will all come together and you can take out your anger on the tires. Maybe we should all pitch in for a set of burnout tires!!

I seem to remember something that Dodges have this thing programmed into the ECM that if it detects that the revs are going up but the truck is not moving, it will limit power to protect the transmission from over heating. Like you were trying to do a burnout or something.
She's going now!! Took trying a couple different VSS wires, but it's all good now.
Tried the one on the output shaft of the trans first, and it revved just fine, but limited the speed to 20 MPH. I'm guessing the signal out of that was telling the ECM it was going way too fast and hit the speed limiter.
Next I need to try hooking up the wire up to the VSS signal out of the PCM. That required removal of the inner fender to get to it. Did that, hooked up the wire, tied up things temporarily, and went for a test drive. Houston, we have lift off!!
Came back, soldered the connection and buttoned everything back up. Just waiting for the Smarty to update now with some new programming. I'm not going to run the full power setting on it, because I don't want to wash down the cylinder walls with too much fuel while the rings are seating, but I'm going to add a little power and some timing for throttle response.
