Thanks Lisa. It could sound like a gattling gun and it would be ok with me. It would at least be something running in my truck.

Off to get a few more things done on the truck

Surprised you are not looking at the intercooler on the turbo, or is that a later addition?

I just looked at that flex pipe again. With those band clamps and the length of the run, I bet you will be fine for quite some time with it as long as it is tight. Not much different than what stack owners run. Giddyup.

Like Jason said, I've already got a Spearco IC I was running with the 7.3 that I'm using for the conversion.

Thank you. It's been long and sometimes frustrating work, but fun at the same time.

I hope it will be fine. Those clamps are tight and there is no movement to the system.

Got the motor mounts actually bolted in place today. I had to track down a right angle drill, because that was about the only way I figured I'd be able to get to the mounts from under the truck. My buddy Rob had one and he come over after work today to help out. It was a tight fit for the drill on the driver's side, but we got it done. However, there was no way we were going to get the drill to access the passenger side, so we ended up lifting the engine with the hoist just enough to get the mount out and drilled it off the truck. Made it much easier. Bolts are hardened Grade 8, 1/2" bolts, so they should hold just fine.

Also needed to fab up a battery hold down. I used a flat piece of metal, drilled some holes in it, and bolted it to one of the battery tray bolts for the side closest to the fender. For the engine side, I used a large L bracket that I could bolt to the bottom of the battery tray and come up the side to attach the J bolt to. For the actual hold down, I have a nice thick piece of stainless steel flat stock that runs across the top of the batteries. I took the angle grinder with a polyfan on it to smooth the edges and give the piece a brushed look. I'm putting some weatherstripping on the bottom of it to help protect the batteries. Here's a couple pics of the test fit. In these pics I haven't yet painted the bracket, cut down the J bolts, or cleaned the batteries.

With the batteries in, I measured for the length of cable I'll need for all the battery connections. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to get the cable and run all of them. Should have my elbow back from the welder tomorrow too, so I can get the air intake setup put in place. I'd really like to get to the point where I can at least get the front end back on. I don't particularly like having the engine sitting in there, just open to the front. Once the air filter is back in and the battery stuff is done, I think I'll be ready for that.

Things are taking a little longer than I expected them to, so I may not quite make my goal of getting it running by this weekend. Should have it by next week though. That's ok though, because I'd rather things be done right than rushed. Plus, I'm finally starting to wear out, so the late nights of working are going to have to stop.

I'll get it running though before we know it.

That is one thorough install job. While none of us is happy about what started this whole process, obviously we're all behind you and highly impressed with the progress and quality of work. I think once you're done, you should drive by the engineering departments of Ford & Dodge and show them how it's done right!

Just wondering why you put the battery's terminals facing each other? Seems to me it would be cleaner if you turned one of the batteries around so instead of the wires needing to cross each other, they'd all be in inline. Unless you need the batteries like that or something.
