Looking through the birthday thread I found a user by the name of 00excdiesel who use to live here in Gillam. If I remember correctly he had an awesome 2003 F350 with the 6.0 Powerstroke. I remember going by his house a few times and seeing his hood up with engine parts all over his driveway. I didn't know him too well but I talked with him a few times about truck stuff. All I know about the truck is that it was stupid fast and looked awesome too
Here's another good one.....
Ford just quoted me $5000 +taxes +install on a new 5R110W for my eX.
I thanked the fella and told him i'll have to end the convo at the 5G.
I've found fully built ones on the net for $3600 and thought that was high.
Lowest one i've found, on sale currently is in MN. $1695 fully updated.
That's a heck of alot more reasonable......Sheesh. Waiting for another quote from AB at LAcustoms. Looking at their vehicles/facilities online, it'll be $$4G plus, guaranteed.

I think 5G for a stock tranny is way out to lunch. You're best bet is to get a built one outta the states, have it shipped to the border and go pick it up yourself. Now if your truck isnt driveable then that might make it hard to go pick up the trannsmission yourself though lol. Either way, DONT GO BACK TO STOCK! As for the install, maybe you can find a backyard mechanic to help you put it in for a few bucks cash to save some dough?
That shop in MN, I should be able to get it on a TX truck. Shipped to Wpg Terminal for peanuts. I'll pick up there. Install here locally I have a few options, good reliable top notch mechanics. Even if the guy in AB gets back to me with a good price, TX trailers leave there back to wpg regular. 1/2 3/4 MT so it'll be pennies to ship as well.
Looks like all the rebuilt 5R110's have pumps, solinoid pack, lines, TC all updated and Dyno tested. The higher priced ones seem to have the different clutches but all very similar in updates. Still don't understand the price spread.
Here's the one i'm looking at out of MN: 5R110 Transmission Sale | 5R110W Rebuild
I've priced out rebuilding with updates and for a couple 400 more I can get the above one. Plus install. Includes TC but i'd opt for the upgrade to the triple billit.

If its only a couple bucks more I'd do that. I'm sure the one it comes with would be just fine but with the way you drive your Ex, its better to be more than capable rather than just fine lol.
Very true Randy. I went to hosp today and it actually went into 5th gear.
I'm super surprised with all the complaints reading about the Banks 6 gun killing trannies mine's lasted this long. I drive her hard all the time, you'd figure it would have went long ago. I've put 100,000miles on it myself, let alone the previous owner who had it on there for 4 years previous to me. I tow 60% of the time too!! ...... Just goes to show how tough the 5R110's are at the end of the day. Heck, it pulled my neighbors trailer home the other day with 2 loads of shingles in it!! Heck of a time backing into his yard (he don't shovel) with 2' of snow where he wanted it parked. Today he called me, his worker with a Dodge 3500 Diesel got stuck trying to get TO IT. I wasn't home to yank him out but I can tell ya I WOULD HAVE TOOK A VID OF THAT!!!! "Blown tranny on Ford pulls out uncapable Dodge" . Trailers still there, he asked me if I could pull trailer out for him tonight. No can do, i'm already pushing my luck driving it as it is. Plus I just went out to stock the stove in the cave, holy crap, if it's like a blizzard in my yard, I can't imagine what the hwy's and open area's are like.
Anyways, I finally got a code. Time to look it up and see what's shakin here. Probably 1 of 2 solinoids or both. I have this incling it's electrical or pump going out.
Hey Randy...having a hard time connecting with ya... hahaha...
Curtis, if you're getting a tranny across the border, have a shop down there install it also. Leave them your old one and drive back...no duty, no taxes, and a road trip to boot.

I was thinking that myself Sherm!! Been reading all night and I may try changing out 2 solonoids with a filter change first. Looks like it may just be the Direct drive one hangin up. If that couple hundred doesn't work and can confirm my truck will hold 5th on the hwy, i'll be plannin a road trip to MN Damage may already be done but 9/10 reads these have been the fixes so it's worth a try. Can do it in the driveway too which is nice
Good evening Brett, Colin, Curtis, Clint, Falcon Queen, Gerry, Grant, Randy, Sherm, Steve and everyone lurking here.

Sherm have you thought about Geothermal?
Thanks Colin, the little black dog and the cat grew up together, the gentle giant came along later and they all get along great tho the cat is a bit of a brat.
My son looked into Geothermal and decided to go with a natural gas boiler system.

Looking through the shelters I saw so many that I wanted to take home but my girlfriend said we could only have one One of our cats we rescued off the streets, she was about 8 months old when my girlfriend found her and about 5 pounds. Now shes a little over a year old and about 8-9 pounds.
At one time I had a few big dogs and it was hard giving them the attention they all deserved.

Furnace oil is $1.28/liter, and to date you can only buy 85% efficient oil furnaces. Propane was at $0.63 when I first made the decision to switch, and the furnace runs 96% efficient. Talking to Coop yesterday enforced my desire to switch real soon. Propane has jumped from $0.63 originally, to $0.87 on this last fill, now will be going up to $0.99 in a week.
That`s just an area rug all the pets love, it`s warm and so cozy that they all seem to head for it.
That`s quite the jump on propane prices, guess the colder it gets the higher the price goes.

It was cold here but not quite that bad, -1 by late this afternoon. It sounds like we may get some snow mixed with rain the next couple of days then it`ll be way below freezing again.
