Hey guys, I just started a thread in the 73-79 section about a 1974 CC for sale. I posted VIN to be decoded. not my truck, I was looking to buy but am going to pass on it.
Just wanted to give anyone looking for a crew cab a heads up. I can also provide a honest description for a potential buyer if needed. PM me

Reason: wrong word- "if" instead of "in"
If I want to replace a long bed out of a 79 F350 crew cab 2WD, the majority of 73-79 long beds will work? Excluding number of fuel doors, etc., of course.
I did try a bit of searching but couldn't find anything conclusive. Thanks--Dan
Well Dan I assume you got the crew you were looking at.measure the frame 79 should be the 37 in frame outside to outside, but so is the 78 and the one I got is still the 34 inch frame.
If it is the 37 any 2X box will fit and 4x f240 77.5 to 79 without drilling new holes.
Did you get a good deal and is it as nice as it looked.

Thanks, very good info to have...especially that it could be either 37 or 34 and needs to be checked.
Well....I'm close to getting it but haven't pulled the trigger yet The rear dually fender flares are metal and have some rust issues, so I'm concerned that a new bed might be in order and just want to figure out the options. Otherwise it's in very good shape. No rust underneath or, from what I can tell, in drip rail areas. Interior is quite nice. The purchase range will likely be 1800-2200.
Engine ain't the prettiest sight...and I'm not entirely sold on a 2x4, but it does meet a different need in the family (hauling more people) and I could do some project-type things with it. I doubt I'd go for converting it to 4x4 but I'm thinking that doing away with the dually is in the future.
OK that does it I need the door panels. Looks pretty good, did you find out if it was adapters on the front axle or did they swap the spindles.
The guy doesn't know, but from what I can guess (from reading here and elsewhere) it's just adapters in the rear. If not I'll just deal with it and have another "project" I guess!
PRICE: Can any one help me? i need to sell my 79 crew cab f250 4x4 but converted to f350 with a 7.3 diesel motor with 30 k miles, it has 37 on it and lift it. also I'm getting ready to paint it inside out and almost no rust on the truck (Cal Truck). all upholstery is done... what can I ask for this baby?

Depends on how much you need or want to get out of it. Once it is all done and if it's like a 'new' truck, you can shoot the moon... $30-$40 grand. If you want a quicker sale... $15-$20 grand. Most people who fix these trucks up will never get what they invested into the truck, which is why they hold on to them as long as possible; invest for life so I've heard. Another option you have is to sell the truck as-is and let the next owner paint it to their liking. This could get you a quicker sell without having to spend more money, perhaps the cost in vs cost out would be a wash... Great place to start advertising is here, post some pics when you can, word of mouth travels fast. Good luck!
