what is the year break on the cab sections that dilineates different crew cab parts. For instance, if i have a 74 parts truck, will the cab parts fit my 76 or 79. Will parts off of a 71 fit a 74 or 76?

Well this IS the right thread, since sealing driprails a major part of keeping the crews alive, use eastwood company non hardening black seam sealer in the tube, clean up the area, let dry, then use it like caulk, then neatly tool it into place, prime then paint.

I believe this was done in part because he used a different steering gear box. It's a mess! Does anyone have pic's of what it should look like? Are the lower mounts for the radiator support centered in the front part of the frame? It looks to me like they were, but the previous owner torched the frame out. I think I am going to have to box the frame, and start over. Any thoughts?
yes, bolt your entire front clip to the cab, then support the rad support in the right place. go to a pick-a-part and hack the front section of a frame off a donor truck with a sawzall (allow for extra), then graft it on in the right place so that everything lines up. weld it up, grind with a flap disk, then it should look like new.

yes. 73-79 cab is identical. save for some different mounting locations between single cabs on the frame. 73-79 f350 chassis are very similar. f250 frames im not sure.

hah! yes an internally STOCK brand new '73 460. going into a c-6 then directly into a t136-127 2-1/2 ton t-case, then into full width 5 ton rockwells with rims made from 1/2 inch thick plate, and 48" XL's. the amount of driveline power absorbsion is astronomical, so i go about 40 down hill. I am planning for a detroit diesel or cat engine in the future though. until then i got some 40" XL's to throw on it.

I believe Ford did that because the early 4wds were built on 2wd frames that narrowed in front to make fords truck turn sharper than the chevy. As 4wd became more accepted, frames were designed specifically for them in order to lower the center of gravity to make the trucks more tow friendly, less likely to roll and easier to enter.

How is it possible that in a list of threads BY YEAR, that he don't notice the YEAR part? like a '96 has anything to do with a '79??

I can do that. I've got an early 70's crew i've spotted in a Nebraska junk yard. Should not have much rust. The owner said look and make an offer. We'll see. I'll let ya'll know! thanks a lot!
