Just remember, the front frame horns on 2wd models are factory punched to accept the '75-'76 F250 4x4 front spring hanger-crossmember.
You should be able to source one somewhere by phoning around to misc recycle yards.
And, you are going to have a blast refurbing that keeper.
yes I knew that info on the front frame. I’m currently swapping a 68 f350 crew to 4x4 using a 78 donor 4x4. My dads truck however is going to have superduty axles with the coils 05+ gonna try to make it a very functional modern truck with the old school look 👌🏽

Happy Holidays to all you Crew Cab addicts.

@mwoj you could use a nice clean 2wd cab donor and cut through the windshield pillars and across the floor pans to graft it onto a Crew Cab.
For necessary repairs to roof drip rails and such, I have no answer as what approach may be best.

Here we go headed into a new year once again soon. I have way too many early Ford projects waiting for attention.
I did go out and fire up my '78 E250 Chateau wagon just because it has been sitting like most collectibles do. hahaha
Also, I do need to take my '77 Crew Cab pickup for a spin. It is in need of new tires. I put the Toyo 255/75R-16 all-terrain tires on the pickup when I finished the build in 1998. My guess is that I have logged approximately 35k miles on the pickup since, with most miles logged in prior to 2008.
The CrewCab rests comfortably in and enclosed shop out of sun and weather, so the tires are not checked from hot summer sun baking. hahaha.

Once the fuel evaporates out of the carburetor bowls from sitting for a few months, it takes bunches of cranking with the starter for the mechanical pump to fill the bowls on the Holley 4-bbl. carburetor. So, I am in the habit of removing the air cleaner and giving the engine a shot of primer gas to save cranking the starter endlessly.
The engine fires up instantly with primer gas so eliminates endless cranking of the starter to fill the carb with gasoline.

If I were ever to convert another early Ford van or pickup from 2wd to 4wd, I would consider using a 4x front crossmember removed from a donor chassis to replace the 2wd bulky crossmember which provided the pivot mounts for the Twin Traction Bar setup. Typically the 4x front crossmember is located ahead of the engine rather than crossing under mid-engine like the 2x crossmember's do. The 2x crossmember's are a pain to cut-down to eliminate bulk.

I suppose the other option is a new cab altogether. That’s a bit more pricy and hard to track down but less “work” overall.

I used a regular cab to repair my '60 crew. It was just like you'd think: cut out the rust, measure what you need, cut oversize, and start the fitting process by trimming where you need to on both parts. The cab is the same so it'll work. It's necessary in areas where no replacement parts are made like the front cab corners and such

.should mention that you need to ensure everything is supported and square prior to the operation.

@fomoco3904 do you have a "build" thread showing your resto-work on your '60 ?

Way back in 1997 I purchased a '77 F350 longbed Crew cab and chassis which was of course 2-wheel drive.
I used this chassis with a rust free cab from a 2wd F250 shortbed donor, along with a Clifford induction setup and headers for a 300-six build.

The seller had a '59 or '60 4-door Crew cab short-box in 2-wheel drive, and was driveable. I think it is the only one i've ever seen and touched.

I have some pictures of it at various stages but not a thread or story. It was a factory 4x4 ex-air force truck with original drivetrain but was rough, body wise. When I was done it was rust free though.

For some reason I can't attach them here on this post but will try in another.

I think it would have had a narrow bed originally but it was a farmer flat bed when I got it.

@fomoco3904 nice collection you have there in 4-door Fords.

My '77 Crew is sitting inside out of the rain thankfully.
Only took 30-yrs living in a flood plain to sell and move to high ground. hahaha

An no electronic computer's to worry about, except for possible Dura-Spark ignition modules. hahaha

I need to sell off some inventory for $$$ to buy a nice 10-hp single phase 220V air compressor for home sandblasting pieces and parts.
I have not made any decisions yet.

I am waiting for warm spring weather to resume work on my '78 Ford E250 trekker van.

Unfortunately I sold that 60 4x4. And my 68 4x4. And my 77 4x4. And the 75 2wd. Oh and the 74 4x4 chassis. I'm a 100% addict of crew cabs and I am itching for another.

@fomoco3904 , you did good reducing your "fleet" of Fords. _ _ _ always tough to let go of collectibles.
I've been waiting to stumble into a forlorn Crew Cab in my area. A good reason to Drool and have a cold pop while admiring.
Heck, anymore, just having a nice clean and straight standard-cab early Ford is Awsome and a real Treat.
I've had young guys at the filling stations willing to trade me their late model Ram diesel Crew pickups for my '77 gasser Crew pickup. Love-it.
These older Crew Cab pickups are worth far more than many a cherished Ford Fastback mustang. Who'd ever guessed 30-years ago. Right !!!

Back in 1996 when I purchased the F250 shortbox 2wd pickup, I purchased it because it was dented (roof), but not rusty.
And, also the pickup had a 300 inline Ford Six-banger Clifford Equipped. On disassembly I discovered the engine block was cracked.
Sourced another parts pickup for glass and rubbers which had a 300-six. I had an incling to run the Ford inline Six w/ a 4-bbl Holley carb. _ _ notions.
I was going to stretch the F250 frame for an 8-foot box, but in my search for a rear door, I came across the '77 F350 2wd longbed cab & chassis.
Seems like in the late '70's a longbox Crew pickup was only offered in F350 2-wheel drive. A F250 4x4 Crew was Short-Box only. yep
I had to buy the cab and chassis to get the door. _ _ _ isn't that how it goes. hahaha

Anyhoo, All I can say is since completion of the build of my F350 CrewCab longbed in 1998, the pickup has been like having a new rig. All rebuilt.
All of the work was done pre-internet or digital camera's, so not having any "interest forums" to share my work, I did not take any photos showing progress.
I felt really good after welding up all the holes in the doors from multiple mirror's, only to discover the next day that the window glass was rolled down inside the doors. resulting in glass replacement.
_ _ _ there's no fix for Stupid. hahaha

My wife and I arek hunkered down inside our home, escaping the Atmospheric River of rain outside. yuck

Due to the rarity of the F350 longbed Crew-cab pickups, I seldom see them out on the street. I do know of a silver one locally, a '73 Crew.

Some young guys are making big bucks ($100k /yr), compared to when I was in my 30's, so they have $$$$ to buy toys.
A new Can-Am Maverick can run a guy $45k before purchasing a pickup and trailer to transport it.
Today, we may have to lay-out 10 to 15 grand for a nice Crew to have a base for a refurb build.

If I knew of an early Ford CrewCab pickup for sale for $2,500 _ _ _ _ I'm buying it. But, if I procrastinate long enough, someone else will get it. haha

My morning dissertation.
Hey, in my parts searching travels, I'm seeing lots of stuff ( OUT OF STOCK ).

I worked for a logger in the mid 80s in Arizona that had a crewcab just like yours. It was white with yellow interior. Nice project.
