Wow - got caught up on 3 pages today...

Beth - DO NOT BUY A TRAILER AT THE RV SHOW! Go, look, but DON"T BUY! I hear way too many horror stories of 1st time buyer getting ripped at RV shows. You live in the mtn's of NC, right? Take trip to any of the many RV stealerships around (Tom Johnson's in Marion, Carolna Coach (just west of Hickory) ect, ect, ect). Go in with NO intentions of buying. Climb around in them, sit around in them, kick back on the couch, lay on the bed, sit on the commode (with the door shut and motion like you're wipping your *ss - trust on this one!) - don't be in a hurry. If you find one you like - go back later to buy it, after you have looked at others. There are so many models/floor plans. Shop around.

Nick - get over it, stop sucking diesel fumes.

George - leave little Nickie alone.

Joe - You da man!

I agree with mark on this one. We look at rv shows but we never bought one there. When we found the modle we wanted we went and spent 5 hours in it at the delar lot to make sure thats the one we wanted for sure. I mean we tried everthing from the bunk beds, coutch, capitains charirs, and the dinet. That is the hardest thing waiting to get it. You have to go with the intention of not buying anthing just looking or you can get into trouble. O yah dont let the sales guy put presure on you. If he starts bugging you just ask him to leave,
Nick

First suggestion on Campground...

Here would be my first suggestion on a campground.

The pluses I see on this place...it is a little off the beaten path and that's good IMO...but not too far away from the stuff we want to do.

It has a playground with kids activities...keeps THEM out of our hair...

A family owned and operated campground.

Smaller in size.

I called and they can accomodate our group and give us a discount.

They are adjacent to the national park...so it looks like a beautiful area.

Some of the on-line reviews mention small sites...the owner said sites are selected based on trailer size...small popups get small sites...most of us have larger rigs...he would put us near each other...but even so...the park isn't that large if someone were not right next to us...

It HAS CABINS!

He said they can take reservations NOW...which is good since many campgrounds don't do so until the actual year.

If we decide on this place...I will call back and book a 'block' of sites to hold...each of us will have to call and make your own reservation for site or cabin...

It is my understanding from them that they can put people 'next' to each other if requested...so I'll request George and Nick to be as far away as possible!

Also when you call to book...they said ~50% of the reservation would be due on booking...

I guess I suggest if we are SERIOUS...we BOOK...and get it out of the way...but I wanted to see what folks thought of this place...as a potential...

Also if Beth can see what her local friends think of it...that would be great...

Apparently these folks just took over ownership in July of this year...so if you read any 'bad' reviews on it...look when it was written.

Please take a look at this website and let me know what you think

http://www.greatsmokyjellystone.com/default.asp

It is slightly more $$$ than some of the other places around there...but not that much more...plus we will get a small group discount per site...and I think it looks like a decent place...but I have stayed in a bunch of places over my RVing time...and while I have had one bad experience...this one looks decent...

Here is a satellite photo of where the place is located in relation to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge...I like that it butts up to the mountains!...looks awesome if you ask me...

Let me how the group wants to proceed...

Here is an on-line photo book I found from someone that stayed at this Jellystone...http://good-times.webshots.com/photo...ost=good-times

BTW...Pigeon Forge is by the little RED ballon with a B in it and Gatlinburg is just below it by the Y of 321 and 441...Jellystone is the other RED ballon with the A in it to the right of Gatlinburg...
