Nothing is set in stone as far as dates...we threw out August 1-3 as a talking point...

My kids start school Aug 12 or 13...so I could only go earlier...

The other option would be July 25-27...It makes me no difference which weekend at this point...I'll plan the rest of the summer trips around this one...

So I guess while we will NEVER make it so everyone can attend...i guess we should go with what makes the most happy?...

How do we 'select' the weekend?...I'd guess these are the only two options from the last ~4 pages of reading...that would make most happy...thoughts on how to downselect to the one?...

Since Nick has been active in this thread...I think we should at least make an attempt to have him and George duke it out at the 'event'!

BTW...in a quick count...I'm up to ~13 people that have shown pretty solid 'interest' in this and another ~5 that are soft commits...unofficially of course...

Well, well... little Nickie had to get mommy and daddy's OK... Just Kidding Dude! i hope you can make... er, um, I hope your mom and dad can bring you... hehehehe!

Yeah, either weekend is OK with me, I guess. We still don't have ou 'big' vacation trip planned, but we're looking in to Mid-Late June for that one. We usually do a early summer trip, mid summer trip and a late summer trip - or at least we try, with a few local weekend trips in between.

Okay...I got nervous about the size of Jellystone...but I just called back...I was nervous for no reason...they feel CONFIDENT they can accomodate our group...

So Jellystone is the LEADING candidate of ALL the CG's I've looked at...

Just need to group to say one way or another...ignore my concerns about the size of this place...they feel GOOD about fitting us all in...it looks AWESOME too...very wooded which in July/August and the heat...is IMPORTANT!!!

THOUGHTS!?!?

July dates are even better for me. How about do a quick poll on three potential dates and let the people choose? You know you can't accomdate all but the majority will have to do...

I like the July dates too actually...school starts so darn early these days!!!...

Plus Nick has been involved quite a bit in this...HE BETTER SHOW IF WE MOVE IT THOUGH!!! LOL

I really like a lot of the things Jellystone has going for it...the seclusion, shade, smaller atmosphere...

The only thing I worry about would be 'late' comers to this party...they may not be able to book with us...we all will really need to book our reservations within the next month I fear...I hope that isn't a problem for others...

All in all...from all the CG's I've looked at...this one is by far appears to be the most scenic and rustic in a GOOD WAY...some of the others are larger and more modern...but also RIGHT ON THE STRIP...I'm not a big fan of highway camping...but will do what the group decides...I'm a team player...but my personal opinion...I like Jellystone best...

What is making this a little hard is the numbers...how many campers...how many cabins...how many hotelers...etc...

Each campground has pluses for varied mixes of numbers.

Mark,
Here is another to add...looks pretty nice too... http://www.smokybearcampground.com/index.shtml

Well, damn... that just sucks... you can't even make it for a weekend? Oh well, you'll just have to send us beer money on your behalf...
