I've not chimed in on this one, but I am eating it up and following it very closely. It pretty much all makes sense to me -- I spent my first 2+ years of college studying engineering. Cody, you're doing some good work, and I encourage you to keep it up!!
Many of the posts are geared at cold temps & cold starts. Maybe I need to ask or word my question differently. Tonight for example we are talking 9~12 degrees for a low temp. If I change my CPS it would be in the cold driveway (I'd try to do it in the warmer part of the day). But it doesn't seem that anyone will say or hint at how the Blue CPS will or think it would preform when the weather gets warmer?
I don't want to change out the CPS twice a year. I travel much less in the winter (Oct~Mar) than in the summer (Apr-Sep) about 25 vs 75%. In winter I'm almost always unloaded, in the summer I'm not loaded as often (13k+ 5er) as I'd like - but I'm confused by the posts. I've seen very few (1) posts that address engine HP & Torq guesses. How would it do Winter vs Summer?
So I guess that Blue came out on Oct 1, so nobody knows how it'll act in the summer or warmer weather. Does this mean that April 1 this thread is out the window?
Before I asked if anyone has hands-on knowledge how the blue would act in the summer and loaded, very few responded. So I'll reword the question.
How do you think the Blue CPS will preform in warmer weather under loaded contitions???

I think we'll all have to wait for the summer to roll around and see.
Really the best way to know without having a lot of diagnostic equipment is to have a black one, a blue one, and a heavy load. Then go out on a nice hot day and find the biggest mountain pass. Drive up the pass pulling the load, measuring the EGT and boost. Change the CPS, go back down the pass and drive back up again, recording all the readings again. You have to do it on the same day and as close together as possible to avoid environmental changes skewing the results.
I for one am not curious enough to go through all that.

That is the cool thing about this site. Not all of us have the time or knowledge to do some of the testing of our engines, but the ones that do these things are willing to share their experiences with the rest of us. Just think if some diesel performance company was to do some of these test and experiments what kind of outrageous fee they would charge for the information and most of us would never see the results without shelling out some cash. Thanks to everyone for posting their disoveries for the rest of us to read and make intelligent decisions based on our own needs.
I would expect the changes to be minimal since the blue cps is already being used in the engine for which it was originally designed. I'm sure weather or temperature conditions wouldn't have a dramatic effect on it as the engine it is currently being used in probably hauls heavier loads in all conditions than anything us with the 7.3 are hauling.
Has anyone installed one and it not work in their truck? My truck showed signs of cps failure, so I installed a new blue one and still nothing. I do notice though while cranking the rpms come up just a little.
i Am Taking My Blue Cps Out. Since Installing It , I Have Not Experienced Any Added Performance Or Milage Gains. As A Matter Of Fact, I Don't Really Think It Has Made Any Difference At All. Neither Positive Or Negative. I Was At First Entertained By The Fact That The Magnetism Was Stronger And That It May Never Go Out On Me Or Last Longer Than The Stock One.
But Now, Quite Frankly, I Am So Tired And Overwhelmed By All Of The Talk About The Blue Cps That I Am No Longer Comfortable Using It. I'm Tired Of Worring About Wheather It Should Or Should Not Be Used. Is It Safe For My Engine Or Is It Not. What Good Is It If I'm Not Gaining Any Benefits From It Other Than Grief About Wheater I Should Have Ever Put It In Or Not.
I'll Stay Tuned On The Subject, But For Now .... i'm Taking Mine Back Out!!

I debated taking mine out as well, but i done spent the money. I installed a HPX first and it made a noticeable difference. When I installed the blue cps a few days later i noticed the quieter idle. All of my friends have freaked out at how quite my truck is compared to theirs. Especially at highway speeds. It is just so quiet for a diesel. A lot different compared to when I first got her. I like the blue cps + hpx line combination, and I'll continue to run the blue. I would like to see some reports done by a big dog and publish their results.

Mine failed after 3 weeks in vehicle. Maybe a fluke or just a bad unit.
