check out the new thread over at TDS, FOMOGO did a few tests with jody tipton comparing both the blue and black. After the testing he stated he left with the black cps in his truck. He compared the two in idle efficiency, cyclinder pressure, combustion duration, and torque at idle per cyclinder. An overall graph showed the original stock black cps to have a cleaner curve than the blue cps, with a nicer rise, fall and peak. FOMOGO also states the blue cps has a rise sooner, but a divot in the top of the curve, and then falls off sooner.
To me its a freakin cps. I have the black one in my truck.
Ahh i did miss that. Wish i would have seen it, saved myself from a repeat. I have missed a lot of post in here though, found it hard to stay real interested. Like i said a bit go, for the little amount of change that seems to result from most stated experiences, to me its a cps. One person puts it in and everyone changes to the blue cps. One person states the black ends up being better and then thats the new wave.
Turbo stroke, i think he was refering to me when he said Turbo.
I'll keep mine in because I paid $100 bucks for it. When it takes a dump (and it will), I will simply install the brand-new black one that I bought 2 weeks prior to installing the blue one. THEN, I will buy another blue one and put it in at the first convenient time I get. I LOVE the way mine runs with the blue one so I will continue to run one.

I'm stickin' with it too for now. Besides, I have 2 black ones in the toolbox so it should be a while before I need to buy another one!
I get the feeling we are going to see a lot of these for sell on fleabay as the rumors spread. I dont see dieselpowerproducts pushing them like they used to. I know Dave hangs at tds a lot.

There sure does seem to be a lot of "blue cps" talk. Well maybe it's not really that much. It kind of seem to only be 2 or 3 pages repeated over and over. Someone says "I love it, better fuel mileage, smoother truck". Then the next person says "NO thats all B.S.". Shortly after that someone says " I don't know it seems to be just like the stock one".
WOW 399 posts saying pretty much that. LOL
I say we all wait a while for everyone that has them to run them for some time. Then let them come back here and tell us yea or nea.
I have a Blue in the truck, and a black in the G-box. The timing of the injection is NOT Advanced, I'll lose money idling but not going down the road, save my starter and maybe be able to leave it running at drivethrus. Pulling heavy low RPM's I would expect higher EGTs and less boost. All-in-all, seems like minimal trade-offs since the most I would tow is 2k#. At somepoint the Black will go back in I'm sure, but it will be a while.
This forum is a great place.
And Kwik, you do amaze me. Even when you were wrong you were right!
So is that the consensus? Black for heavy towing (say 8000-10000 lbs) and blue for putzing around town?
That's a tough call. There's some factors IMO that you would need to consider. EGT, cylinder pressures, fuel efficiency are the ones that come to mind right now.
Fords4me I'm still learning.

Right. Seems like since the Black was designed for your engine, it's hard to go wrong with it. For certain driveability issues, blue can "help", but there are as with all things in life, trade offs.

So what would you do if you were doing heavy towing like a 8000+ lbs toy hauler?
