Here ya go fellas....here's some test results for the blue and black CPS. This is the info from TDS web site. This will save me a bunch of PM's.
************************************************** ********
This is the post from TDS member FOMOGO:

"Jody did cylinder pressure testing on my truck Thursday and Friday with a new Black Motorcraft CPS and a new Blue International CPS.

This thing can now be laid to rest as I left with a black CPS in my truck.

Here are the hard facts.

Idle efficiency is 44.4 percent with the blue and 55.4 percent with the black.

Cylinder pressure at idle is 553 psi at 9 degrees ATDC with the blue and 572 psi at 8 degree with the black.

Combustion duration was only 35 degrees of crank rotation with the blue and 51 degrees of crank rotation with the black.

Torque at idle was 4.7 foot pounds per cylinder with the blue and 4.3 per cylinder with the black.

The testing was also done on the road and was along the same lines as the idle testing. It just compounded the numbers with RPMs. So there it is tested and graphed.

When you read the graph, the blue CPS doesn't have a clean curve. The black CPS gives a nice rise and fall on the graph with a nice rounded top. The blue CPS gives a rise sooner but has a divot in the top of the curve then falls off sooner.

FOMOGO"

I think I'll keep my black CPS.

I agree kwikk, I'll stick with the black.
Sounds like the stronger magnet is resulting in a shorter (smaller) injection event, which would explain the quieter engine and increased fuel economy.
It makes me wonder, has anyone actually tried towing with the blue CPS?

Seems like the blue has more torque but less cylinder efficiency but yet gets better mpg?

Looks like the reason for quiet idle and easier starts, but makes one wonder about performance when put under heavy load. I'm sure someone will let us know soon. Keep up the good work.

So did I but I am going to return it if I don't feel comfortable in the next few days.

This is not completely consistent with Cleatus' findings, though the earlier fall time remains the same, which is the important part. The divot in the top of the curve is meaningless.

Isn't it amazing what we REALLY find out about our trucks through experimentation?

Subscription to FTE is worth every penny to me!

It's interesting also that the graphs that Cleatus took led us to believe that the injection timing was increased with the blue, when in fact the opposite is true.
There's also been some mention over on TDS about the International techs installing a black CPS in the DT466 to clear up some driveability concerns.
Bottom line: I don't think either one is better or worse, they are just a little different.
For myself, I am going to give the R&D dept. the benefit of the doubt and go with what they designed the engine to run with on this point.
I would also be interested in some comparative EGT readings while towing heavy.

Bottom line, all the calibration work that was done by FMC is optimized to the characteristic of the black CPS. The changes caused by the blue CPS are enough to throw the calibration out. I'm sure with enough time and $$, someone could re-tune the PCM to work with that CPS. Not worth it to most of us.

I'll keep mine in because I paid $100 bucks for it. When it takes a dump (and it will), I will simply install the brand-new black one that I bought 2 weeks prior to installing the blue one. THEN, I will buy another blue one and put it in at the first convenient time I get. I LOVE the way mine runs with the blue one so I will continue to run one.

I'm leaning towards just leving the Blue one in there too. Is there really any damage going on? I'm not going to just follow the "everyone else is taking the blue one out' parade. I'd like to know more about what it's doing.

Yeah, considering we had already fallen into the "everyone else is doing it" when we put the blue one in to begin with. Its too cold outside for me to even give it a second though. if there is hard evidence that damage is being done, then it will come out. But I do like the way the truck runs with it and the hpx.
