06e17 recal and the scmt 1704

My 03 F350 had the 06e17 recal last year. Is this PCM code level compatible with the 1704? A brother of mine wants to hook me up with a 1704, but we don't know if it's going to fly without upgrading the 1704 firmware first.
Anyone? Any idea?

VXAP1 is supported in the current 1704 database. You might have to send it in for an update if it the tuner was bought (or last in here for an update) before June 2006.

Thanks, Mike. We'll work off of that information. I'm not familiar with the "send it in" part. What's the cost, turn-around time, etc..? Also, I vaguely remember reading something about the updated 1704 tunes being comparable with those of the Flashpaq. Is that correct?

Tuners that are received in need of an update for files that we already have in the database are usually shipped out the same day that we get it. There is a shipping cost associated with it, call our CSR people at 407-585-7000 for more details.

The updated files in the 1704 are the same as those in the Flashpaq.

I have an old 1704 as well that would need to be upgraded. I was thinking of just buying one of the newer programmers...but are you saying that using the 1704 (after new programming) would be the same...? Or are there additional reasons (advantages) to getting one of the newer programmers? And if so, which is the best?

Thanks

The Flashpaq would allow you to adjust for bigger tires not to mention it is updateable via the web which is cheaper and easier than sending it in.

Oh, cool. Thanks for mentioning that. I do have 35" tires on the truck.

Any chance of getting a trade in on the 1704?

Is anyone having problems with Flashpaq? ie. programmer issues, head gaskets blown or tranny issues? I am running a cat back Banks exhaust system and Auto meters gauges on my 2006 F-350 lariat cc 4wdr with 20000 miles no problems. And I am interested in buying a Super chip or sct. I have heard and read a lot about both, and like both. I am leaning towards the Super Chip. Is this a good move? Thanks in advance for all the help.

I just got my programmer back from Superchips for an update, now when you install tuning on Hi-Performance there is no noticeable change in performance. Has anyone else experienced this? I even installed it again and no change. The first time installing the tuner didn't even recognize it had installed any thing. The second time the tuner says Hi-Performance tuning installed.

It doesn't even smoke from an idle to the floor. What has happened to my tuning. It used to run like a bat outta h***. Now no more boost then it has stock.

I would contact someone from Superchips and see what they have to say. This is not what you paid for and need an explanation.
