B, just get reduced height pistons since you have to buy pistons anyway, then you are good. The compression is not reduced substantially as the combustion chamber is in the piston, unlike the conventional gas motors.
Well, the machine work on the short block is almost done. The machine shop is waiting for a few parts to do final fitments.
Question;
Is the front crank seal the same on the 6.0 versus the 6.4? I am looking for the tools to install the seals and want to make sure I get the correct tools. I thought the bottom end was the same between both engines, other than an over bore for the 6.4. Thanks, B.
Ok Jack, I see your front engine pics from another post this AM. So the "snout" IS bigger on the 6.4. BUT, does anyone know if the 6.4 tool will ALSO work on the 6.0? Thanks, B.
So I spent all day cleaning and painting parts. While inspecting the factory oil filter base, there are two brass valves with rubber seals. Mine are in good shape and pliable, but they have permanent imprints in the rubber seals. Are these parts available or do you have to buy the entire base assembly? Specifically the "oil in valve" and the "oil cooler bypass" valve. Or is this a none issue? Thanks, B.
Yeah, I have been digging and not finding it on the web. I'm sure the parts are available, but finding then is part of the mystery. If I can find a link to the parts I will post it up. Thanks, B.
It was somewhere here in the 6.0L section. I wished I could give you more info.
I am not sure on the names other than the one is the drain-back valve The other one
might be the bypass valve. I think that was the one some were having issues with.
Mark might also be someone to ask about that.
Yeah, the small parts are part of the oil filter adapter assembly. But I don't feel like spending 250 bucks for the entire unit. I will search here also. Thanks, B.
So far, my digging has shown Ford won't sell the parts I am looking for individually? BPD HAS the one plunger. I have an email in to them to see if they have the other parts as well. The "oil in" valve appears to be a captured piece and part of the oil filter return tube clamp. So still trying to source these other parts.
