Just go with a factory ford short block. Thats my recommendation. May I ask why you need a new motor?
Ok Ok.... I am NOT going to buy foreign junk. NOR am I going to buy a Ford Reman short block OR long block. I rebuilt MY short block because I know it's history as I bought this truck brand new from a Ford Dealer in October 2005. I have been the SOLE owner of this truck. If you go back to the beginning of my thread here, you will see how I got to where I am. Not to mention my other thread about my engine issues starting last summer.
As it turns out, I lost a lifter roller which partially took out cylinder 6 exhaust lobe on the cam. Which, I strongly suspect, was causing heat to build up in that cylinder. Which ultimately weakened the rings on that cylinder, which was causing a 30%+ blow-by. So ultimately the engine came out and went to a local machine shop that builds all sorts of diesel engines all day long. They did the machine work and I did the assembly.
IF I were to BUY a short block OR long block It would be one of only two or three well known engine builders who get mentioned on this site frequently. BUT, that was not necessary. B.
Bill Hewitt is the owner of a shop out ou Georgi. While I have no experience with his work,, he does make some pretty entertaining videos, cringy but entertaining.
I have a 05 f350 king ranch. Its low miles so i havent done anything to it. And I'm glad you guys know about him. But im mostly a 7.3 or 6.7 guy.
Kevin, within this forum he is mostly not liked because of his presentation, and there are several things he had promoted that actually were the wrong thing. At least, in my opinion, he has good mechanics behind him, but overall, like many, I do not care for him. The reaction to you is not really personal, although it may seem that way.
Seeing that you have Billet Oil and Fuel Filter Caps, which ones did you go with and why? I am needing to replace my Fuel bowl cap and getting overwhelmed with the vendor/manufacture options.
Modoc, I bought those items many years ago and I have no idea now where I got them. Sorry. They don't have any markings to tell me which brand. I made sure they matched the factory caps before I installed them. I bought them mainly to add the by-pass system as they were already threaded and tapped. B.

Well, she is DONE!!!! Got a new set of alternator to fuse to battery cables and fuse holder installed. Got the A/C evacuated and recharged. Got the gauges all done. Got my new DTRL's hooked up using a factory Ford module I found on ebay. Took her for several test drives over the last week. Buttoned up some wiring today. And finally got around to giving her a bath today. Now it is time to drive and get her broke in. And pray she will last a very long time. Because I don't want to go through this again any time soon.
Thank for ALL or your help and input and suggestions. B.
Co-pilot ready for flight (LOL). A little dusty, but then again, she has for all intents and purposes not been drive-able for a solid year now.
