Update:
The dealer replaced the TPMS sensor in the one tire that I thought was suspect and it worked. I was able to complete the trailer TPMS learning process in about 15 seconds.
I have a TPMS tool that works for most brands of vehicles. I have to wonder if it had been able to detect the bad sensor, so you didn't have to waste time on it.

My understanding is that the Ford Trailer TPMS sensors are on a different frequency than the vehicle ones. I contacted a couple of companies that make them and they said "they are working on it".
No, they're the same frequency that my tool works on. I spotted the frequency on one of the posted pictures in this thread I believe. 433 mhz, as I recall. I programmed a set of 433 mhz sensors a few months ago for my Nissan Leaf.
The cheap Ford TPMS learning tool that I bought on Amazon worked great. But, it doesn't analyze anything. It won't tell you if a sensor is bad. But for 13 bucks, it's WAY better than walking around letting air out of the tires then having to refill them.
The cheap tools are really useful for initiating the TPMS relearn process. I had a similar tool for my Nissan Titan. On my wife's 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan, I could do it with an old speaker magnet.
The TPMS tool can also pull trouble codes, so it's more than just a TPMS tool. It can also tell you if your key fob is working, but it can't program the fob.

Which one did you buy? I have installed the sensors in G614 tires on my fiver but haven't installed the receiver on the trailer yet. I plan to do that soon, as soon as I am allowed to leave home
It would be good to get one that is known to work.
Yeah, it works great. You start the trailer TPMS learning process on your truck. When it prompts for the first trailer tire (forward driver's side) you just walk up to the tire, put the learning tool next to the valve stems and push the button. 1-2 seconds later the truck horn honks indicating success. You then walk to the next tire and rinse and repeat. SUPER easy and fast!

Sounds great. Much better than letting air out and then trying to get the tire back up to 110 PSI with a wimpy compressor.
It's too bad that I can't use a Ford system on the truck! I am going with the TST system there. People say that the sensors work in the streel carcass tires. I have a new Luxe trailer on order and it comes with the TST system standard.
I posted on this thread a while ago and I finally got a chance to install the TPMS only kit in my new 2020. The option was ordered with the truck and was received about 2 months after I took delivery. The way my truck was wired only allowed the 12 pin connector to be installed in the bumper despite the fact that I ordered the fifth wheel prep package. I called Nichols and ordered the "Straight Harness" https://nicholsmanufacturingandweldi...ucts/y-harness the perfect solution. On the 2020 there is no need to order any additional remounting hardware because the 7 over 12 pin connector fits and replaces the 7 over 4 pin one that's factory installed in the bed. The TPMS sensor training seemed to work well but I had to let out a lot of air. I was letting out so much air I thought about giving up and right about then I heard the horn chirp.
Thank you MontanaHauler for the thread. Thank you guys for recommending Nichols they were a pleasure to deal with and make a very nice harness.
I have a 2020 F 450
No instructions for the y’all
sensor. I thought it should mount on the trailer but the diagram shows it to mount on the vehicle. Could someone please tell me the correct way.
Thank you so much!

I'm glad that this tread has been helpful to many and it has also been helpful to me.
It is interesting that you got a 7/4-pin connector in the bed. Who would want a 4-pin in the bed? But that is probably just to fill up the double hole. It seams like it would have been simpler to just put a 7/12 in there and have one less variation for the assembly line. Did you get the Ultimate Trailer Camera System or the Pro Trailer Backup Assist package?

That drawing is ridiculous. Yes, the YAW sensor mounts on the trailer. On a 5th wheel it goes on side of the pin box. There should be another instruction sheet in the plastic bag with the YAW sensor and its harness. I think that what the drawing is showing is the bed mounted 7/12-pin connector being used for the YAW sensor and the camera/TPMS connected to the bumper 7/12-pin. That was probably before they had the 3-way harness so you could connect everything at the same time.
What all you you going to connect?
