i received a reply from my dealer. He thought that it was the correct kit. However, the dealership is in Santa Clara (near San Jose) and they are shutting down for 3-weeks because of the virus situation. He will look into this when they get back to work in 3-weeks

Yes, I ordered one last night and they shipped it this morning.

i had a good talk with Brian Nichols last night. He says that Ford does have a part number for the new 2020 kit but it is not in production and there are no delivery dates. Maybe it is to be made in China? The existing harnesses are marked "made in Mexico".

The reason the new harness is more expensive than you might think is that he has to buy the complete kits from Ford to get the two harnesses. Then he takes the harnesses apart and combines the backup assist and camera/TPMS wiring into one harness. Then he hopes to sell the other parts or complete kits on his website. I don't see any reason why this will not work as I have tested both the backup assist and the camera/TPMS harnesses separately on my truck. They both use different pins on the 12-pin connector, so basically, he removes the 2 pin for the backup assist module from one 12-pin connector and puts them in 2 empty holes in the camera/TPMS 12-pin connector.

If you decide to order a cable from Nichols, it is best to send him the two cables if you have them.

I will report on the new harness once I receive it and get a chance to test it.

That’s great! I will likely order after you confirm it works. Look forward to hearing back.

I got the only one that he had, so if you order, he will need to build more and he may need the harnesses first.
I will keep everyone posted on the progress.

"Ford does have a part number for the new 2020 kit but it is not in production and there are no delivery dates"

My truck was given to me with no mention of missing parts from the dealer. Had I not known, I would be none the wiser. It seems unforgivable that you do not get any acknowledgment that you did not receive the very expensive accessories that you ordered and paid for, much less an approximate idea of when they might be available, and how one might be informed of their availability. How can they, or us, just act like nothing is wrong?

I know my dealer doesn't give a *****, but shouldn't the corporation Ford be somewhat concerned about the internet and social media reputation they maintain?

My trailer is sitting at the shop waiting for tires and a camera and back up assist to install. No one said to be patient, no one said anything at all.

These Superdutys are their flagship model. C'mon Ford, you've got to do better than this. (Rant over) Dave

Just got an email from my Ford dealer and said a box with my VIN just arrived (regarding Trailer TPMS parts). I'll go pick it up and report what was shipped. My Tremor was delivered 2/20/2020, so not too bad, a month to wait on parts. Just have to see what was sent.

First thing to do is look at the copyright date on the bottom of the instructions, if it is 2017, you probably have the wrong kit. Next look at the harness with the round 12-pin connector on one end, it should have 3 different connectors branching out on the other end. If it only has two, then you have the old cable harness. You should also have 6 TPMS sensors in the box.

Good luck!

Thank you for the advise!

Yes, I've been following this thread for quite some time. All of this information will be very useful.

One thing I've noted on my truck is that I do not have the 7/12 pin connector at either location (bed of truck as part of the 5th wheel option) or at the bumper. TBH, I haven't looked closely at the harnesses behind bumper or in the bed, but I HAVE noticed the Instrument Cluster has the option to "monitor" trailer TPMS, so some kind of programming was already completed at the factory. Also, I did not select the Ultimate Trailer Towing package option either (all the added cameras), just the Trailer TPMS package. So this will be very interesting how the "harnesses" pan out.

You would only have the 12-pin connector in the bed if you ordered the 5th wheel/gooseneck prep. Did you get the backup assist package in the back seat? If so you will need the new harness to connect both the TPMS and the backup assist module, if you don't have that, then the old kit should be fine. As you don't have the Ultimate Towing package, you probably will not be able to connect a trailer camera.
The kit includes a new 7/12-pin connector to replace the 7/4-pin connector beneath your bumper and a 7-pin to 4-pin adapter. Hopefully you have the harness up behind the bumper near the spare tire.
Please let us know what you get.

I have been very nice with both my salesman and the service manager who has been watching for a fix. Neither has returned a call I made, one a week ago and the other yesterday, so looks like a sales manager visit is in order. I may be wrong but I just don't feel I should have to spend any of my money on this. I either want my money back for the camera or they can pay for the Nichols fix. Either way I'll be happy.

I ordered my truck in October with the $55 TPMS option. I didn't get any additional accessories when it was delivered. Since it was only $55 I figured it was only a software thing that gave me the ability to add the kit latter. I never gave it much thought. Anyway the UPS guy dropped off a package for from Ford last night.

I was pleasantly surprised to get it. But it seems like Ford is a little behind with this stuff. I only got 4 TPMS sensors and thats ok since I only have 4 wheels on my trailer. The part that bothers me is that I can't install the 7/12 connector in the bed . The 12 pin connector behind the spare tire is not long enough make it to the bed connector there should be another harness or extension from Ford for those of us who ordered the fifth wheel prep package. I don't want to throw wires over the tailgate or have them dangling between the truck and trailer. Looks like Nichols has an extension for $120. I may go that route. I don't want to start cutting and splicing harnesses on my new truck. At $55 I don't think I can really complain. I hope the pics help anyone waiting for there stuff. The rest of the installation instructions have the "copyright FoMoCo" at the bottom of the pages.

Had you been talking to your dealer or a Ford rep about this, or did they send this to you on their own? I'm curious if Ford is working down their list and will be sending these to all of us in the same boat.

I haven't asked anyone about it. I wasn't sure what it was when I ordered it. The dealer wasn't sure what it came with at the time when I placed the order. So for $55 I checked the box. I actually thought I would have to buy this stuff at a later date. So for me it's not perfect, but turned out to be a bargain. I'm hoping Ford has a jumper harness I can get to connect to the in bed receptacle.

This looks like the 2 kits that I received from my dealer minus the camera and camera extension cable.

Did you receive the backup assist/yaw sensor kit with your truck?

It's hard to tell from the photo but the Y-harness that you received is probably for a camera and TPMS but it could be for TPMS and yaw sensor with no camera connection. If you have the yaw sensor, see if it will connect to the harness. If not you will need the new harness assembly from Ford or Nichols.

You will probably want to get the kit from Nichols with the extension cable and mounting plate for the 7/12-pin connector in the bed. You already have the connector, so you don't need that part of their kit.

That is a great deal for $55! The TPMS sensors alone sell for $85 each. It is also interesting that Ford shipped it directly to you. I wonder if the rest of us will get a "surprise package"?
