Two questions:
1. What's the point of marking the bolts, as in the pic of the bedplate?
2. Did you use any silicone on the bedplate and oil pan gaskets?
Btw, the orifice in the banjo looks like it maybe ten or fifteen thousandths bigger than stock. Could just be the photo though.

Those are three stage torque bolts so to keep track of sequence and which torque step I’m on I mark them with a dot. The others is to make sure they all got torqued because sometimes I get sidetracked!

Yes I used a tiny bit of Motorcraft grey, none on the inside of the gasket because I did not want any squeezing out into the inside.

I think it is a little larger but not much!

As long as you remember to mark them immediately after torquing, LOL!

Jack caught it too, I marked them after I was done torquing and only marked two dots on the second row...he doesn’t miss much.
I am really enjoying this work, I hope the engine runs WELL for many more years after this. If not, I’m going to stick a 12 valve Cummins in it.
Oh, have I had that thought! I did when the OE motor went.
If I didn’t have so much money tied up in new and newer parts I would have done the conversion this time instead of spending $7k on machine work and more parts. This is the last time...
SmackDaddy: did you had to press the spur gear (gear wheel-sorry don´t know the word) on your new cam, or did it come with the spur gear pressed on? I didn't read that.

I had the machine shop swap the gear to the new cam since I got the cam through them from Colt. I don’t have a press so it was a no-brainer to have them do it along with everything else. It’s on the invoice I post a photo of in the first few posts.

Power steering hose and fitting kit from Sweeting’s Banjo ends Looks the same size to me, Matt said he stands behind his product and if I don’t notice better steering and brakes I can send it back...we shall see. Had to get him to send the proper fitting for the power steering pump because this one had to be tightened up before the pulley was pressed on and almost hits with about 1/16” more to go to get the pulley completely pressed on...he’s sending an alternative fitting. I was not impressed and told him what I thought about this product. Rebuilt hydroboost and cleaned up master cylinder in.
