17 years installed had this sucker stuck like chuck! Little heat, pressure and penetrating lubricant Finally popped off and almost took my arm off, it sounded like a gun shot. I honestly thought I broke the puller. Puuuurty!
Naa, don’t worry about that Jack it’s all about our trucks and pertains to the work I’m doing on mine in this thread. I’m all for good information just not the negativity one or two members have brought in the past talking down like we are all idiots bragging about owning their own shop etc.
It’s not the pump that Sweeting’s lines upgrade, it’s the size of the orifice coming out the high-pressure fittings that allow more flow. What Matt told me on the phone goes hand in hand with their videos. No matter how much pressure the pump puts out the orifice is restricting flow. We will see how well this upgrade works because I have fairly new full stainless brake lines, Powerstop rotors and heavy-duty pads as well as a new Motorcraft master cylinder, “resealed” hydroboost, new power steering pump, and steering gear. The only thing I didn’t get are new calipers but I did go through them again just a couple of months ago.
I'd be checking the diameter of the banjo fitting port and banjo bolt feed hole compared to the OE hose before I'd jump on that. Otherwise, it's just a fancy hose upgrade, if needed at all.
The video is about improving the actuation of the F-250 they are working on, but it's a conversion from vacuum assist to hydro assist. As I showed in the PE/PSI graphs, if I owned a gas-powered truck I'd be converting to hydro as well, probably the second day I owned the truck. Historically that has been the jump every vehicle manufacturer has made when they get into a design issue and they can't adjust the pedal ratio (travel) comfortably.
If the fittings are no larger than the existing ones I’m sending it back for a refund. I’m already aggravated that they took almost three weeks to get them to me and his excuse was he was waiting on the fittings from their supplier. If I do go back with the stock hoses do I need to replace the entire hose? There were tiny black seals that came out in pieces while removing the lines from the steering gear ports. I have a ton of viton o-rings of all sizes but these look like a different profile unless it’s just from being compressed so long.
Those o-rings can be a PITA. They usually tear apart from the turning when removing, and if they crack in service, do leak.
Really good Ford dealership counterman know those and can supply the correct ones. The stand on-line Ford parts search is useless. The aftermarket stores, not so much. I’ve even bought aftermarket “kits” and they have not been correct.
I was going to ask but didn't want to muck-up this thread with brake stuff. But since you're talking brakes, where did you get the banjo fittings/lines? My searches keep ending up here: https://powerbrakeservice.net/stbrpostho.html

...or with banjo fittings for brake calipers.
You’re not mucking it up, this is about discussion! That is the correct business, call and talk to Matt Sweeting. I am about to go to the gate and get the package and see what the fitting ID’s are. I may be making a phone call and sending them right back if they aren’t any larger than the existing.
Keeping an eye on this, good motivation for sure. Pulled the engine from my 05 a couple years ago, picked up a box load of parts to do the engine, still trying to find where I left my ambition. Keep up the work
You have to love this...I had a bunch of photos with captions typed up and when I hit upload it wiped them out and took me to the top of the page. I guess I’ll try again tomorrow. It happens to me a lot on here. Very frustrating when you type a post up and thirty minutes are wasted because of a buggy *** format. Moderators?
Pistons are in with new rings in the 5 I had in that I used the crappy Lisle wrinkle band tool to install. This ARP tapered install tool is awesome, pistons slide in with two fingers. I should have had this tool from the beginning. Take notes if you are going to do the same, buy the $60 tool and make it easy on your self. Going to start on heads, head gaskets etc next.
I also got the frame and crossmember cleaned and painted to dress up the engine bay and mitigate rust.
