Whenever I am at a show, that is the first thing I think of... all the hours and hours of back breaking work someone put into that car/truck to make it the way it is... everyone sees the shiny chrome, but most probably don’t know how much it took to get there.
Great job by the way, I’m enjoying this thread.
Thanks Jeff. I swore to not get in a hurry or rush anything on this project but I am feeling in a hurry lately. It may be because the full coverage on-road insurance started March 1st and its not driveable yet. All the final sanding is done now. I need to mask some of the black and protect the wiring again and its ready for color! I need a 4 hr window so it will be a while... next week at the earliest.
Finally got the bed sprayed. It was nice enough I even got to use all the exhaust in my booth (up till now its been too cold so I eliminated or reduced the exhaust). I forgot how nice it is when the spray fog gets pulled down and away!
It finally got nice enough here to take my '60 for a drive. Couldn't help thinking about your fine paint as I was looking at my "as is" finish! Made me chuckle!

It is called "patina" and people pay extra for it.

Your enjoying having saved yourself untold hours of sanding and fussing not to mention $$? Yes I am crazy but thats not up for discussion!
Looks like the bed blocks are not original unless Ford used three species of wood for fun! The Oak stood up quite well but the fir and redwood crushed. I selected poplar for hardwood and rot resistant.
Looking good. It takes a lot of time for these projects. You watch them on TV and it takes 30 minutes or an hour to show what actually took a year or more. But to me and I am sure you it is very satisfying.

You are correct. For me it is not "or more", more like a whole lot more and still not finished.

The shows are good at showing start & finish with most hard time eating stuff edited out for show length constraints. There are infinite tactics to making your truck the way you want and up to this one mine was drive it while I repair/upgrade and its never really 100% done. This project I decided to make a new truck in old styling so hopefully less pesky repairs in the fly!
