That is a sharp looking truck. Nice job. Love the blue on that truck.

Thanks for the help! Its chugga chugga slow train. I am doing some tidying up of things while the seat has center stage and my paint bay... 😂

Bad news... I couldn’t get my fingers in the hinge area to install door seals with them mounted. Removed the drivers door and dropped it! It rolled the bottom skin under and dented it in several areas. @&$$-/!#%*!!
It damaged some paint on the drivers fender too.

I need to walk away and calm myself.

April looks less possible...

I feel your pain. I put my seals on while doors off. Managed to bang up door and fender installing. I used a harbor freight hydraulic table. It kept leaking down with weight of door. Good example of a job for two strong men.

Really sorry about the set back. does this mean door repaint? Walking away is a good idea.

I have to bang out the rolled edge and do bodywork on the door. Yes repaint the door will be required.

If it’s any consolation, it happens to everyone at some point. Everyone.

You’re still making great progress.

And it’s turning out beautiful!! Absolutely beautiful.

Cheers, 🍻

It is consolation. I have enough materials onhand, it just equals added time and effort to undo my own stupidity! The door was nearly perfect and beautiful and I have to start over again with more repair than was needed the first round. I am only mad at myself.

I decided to ignore the door and continue the project as if it never happened. Then when I am good and ready (or its the last remaining item) I will fix the door.

Thank you all for the kind words and thoughts.

HAS ANYONE SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED LMC DOOR SEALS? THEY DO NOT HAVE INSTRUCTIONS AND THE CUSTOM MOLDING FITS ONE WAY PERFECTLY BUT THEN THE OTHER DOESN'T. Please give advice if you figured these out and successfully installed them. It looks as if I need to cut sections out to fit them correctly instead of leaving the seal one piece. HELP?

Sorry to hear about the one step forward two steps back, we have all been there, we are an elite group
I seem to recall older post of people having issues with LMC seals and those with Carpenter didn't. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
I put mine on in 1975 from JC Whitney and don't know who the supplier was, and they are still good.

I found the same. Passenger door seal fit perfectly, drivers not even close. I would have returned them but glued passenger side first and bought them five or six years before getting around to it. I think seal too thick too. I pealed driver's side off after hours of trying to get door to close. Maybe in five or six years I'll buy some thinner universal seal. Good luck. I have heard Carpenter seals better fit.

I had good luck with Carpenter seals.

Good choice to wait on the door. Besides, it makes a good story! lol

Think I would fix it. Otherwise my knee would hurt from kicking myself every time I walked by it.

Bench seat

Seat frame cleaned up and rust converted. Painted black and prepped for new foam and upholstery.

All the foam is breaking down. The upholstery shop only wanted to “shore it up in spots where needed, not a full foam replacement “. It’s obvious the old foam will disintegrate soon so I couldn’t leave it.

What a messy process painting springs!
