Waze isn’t supposed to be released to Ford AppLink until April. IOS users won’t be able to download the app from AppLink and use it until then. I don’t know how Android Auto works since I don’t have an Android.
For anyone who has installed this 3.0 update, is it build number 17276?
I had installed Version 3 in November, when news of an "unofficial version" came out. Thinking this 3.0 version that just came out was "new and improved", I tried an update tonight. After about 5 minutes of the "Updating Software..." message on the SYNC3 screen, it said my software is up to date. Hence, my question on Build Number.
Was hoping the default to FM upon startup had been remedied....
TIA!
there is a post above that explains what you may need to go the install the official release.

Thanks to you and wb6anp for pointing me in the right direction. I missed that post, and it was the answer. Update took less that 10 minutes since I was already on V3...

The issue with thus release is that no Applinks Apps work at all using USB
They. Sometimes may run for a minute or so then the system reverts to FM with all controls locked up reqiuiring a vehicle stop and restart or a master.reset
Planning to do the update today. Has anybody noticed if the update includes updated maps for the NAV version? I'm not sure how old the maps on my system are (truck itself is a '17), but we have found a couple places already where major interchanges have been completely rebuilt and the maps are way off, which is disconcerting if you are not familiar with the area.
I didn't see any changes in my map data. still on ver 1 15 for whatever that means. From the looks of some of the roads on the factory nav, it must mean that it was updated in 2015. Lots of road construction that was completed 2 or more year ago, but do not show up on our nav maps.

No map updates in 3.0 and there will never be any map updates this way.
The map updates will require purchasing said updates that are on a USB stick and they can be ordered from a Ford dealer for $150.00
There are a couple of forum members on here who last week purchased the above mentioned USB sticks with updated map info from a Ford dealer in GA.
I am having to do a soft reset every so often since the version 3 update. I had zero issues with version 2.3. To do the soft reset hold the power button and the button with the arrow pointing to the driver side next to the M. Sorry I don't know the exact name of that button, but it beats doing a master reset or turning off the truck. Its still a pain in the hind end to have to do this after the update. Had to do it this morning to get my truck to run android auto. Either my install didn't go well, or this update wasn't ready for prime time. Does anyone know if the dealer has the ability to reinstall the update? I don't think we can from the usb.
Seems a shame Ford charges for updates. A cheap Garmin often gives you lifetime updates. But unlike others on this site, I do find the factory GPS quite usable and functional.
