I'm more interested in when Ford will come out with a navigation software update. My home is less than 2 years old and I can't even put my home address in cause the software is so out of date...

Exactly the reason I chose not to get navigation on my new truck.

OEM navigations really are worthless these days. Nothing will keep up with Google Maps. And if you need it offline, just download your area, region, state, whatever so you have the data in remote areas.
I had the old, base Sync (can't even remember what it was called), not even the MyFord, the non-touch screen jobber, in a couple other vehicles. The one that Ford admitted they would punch the damn thing because it was so bad.
So, got the Sync 3 of course in the new truck, big touch screen, navigation, all the cool stuff, supposed to be so much better now... and it sucks just as much as the old system. I could use Android Auto but that's pretty plain looking and I lose the other functions. If they would just make a car infotainment system by Google with Google maps and Assistant, and all the other functions (climate, radio, etc.) it would be perfect. It would actually understand me (and have the functionality) when I tell it to do something or look something up and be user friendly.
“Ford says its 2018 model year vehicles running SYNC 3 version 3.0 or greater will be able to run Waze”. So me and my 2017 are SOL??
(Ford says its 2018 model year vehicles running SYNC 3 version 3.0 or greater will be able to run Waze on its touch screen at launch. Other SYNC 3-enabled Ford vehicles can receive an over-the-air update or an update via USB to enable Waze functionality.)

Not to worry, I'm using Waze in my '17 (built May 17) on an Android Phone with absolutely no issues!! It runs inside the Android Auto app with Waze displaying on the truck's screen in place of the Ford Nav System.

Does any Android phone with Android Auto app work with Sync 3? Or is there a list of "approved" phones somewhere?
Although I agree the Internet based GPS maps service is always more up to date (Apple Maps / Google Maps) I disagree that the OEM Navi is worthless. For one thing, it provides a map without needing to be linked to a phone at all, and provides it on the main screen. It's always available. A lot of times I'll head down a road and although I'm familiar with the area, I'm not familiar with the road. It's nice to see where it goes on the map. I've also had zero trouble using voice commands to easily find a destination if I'm Craigslist hunting, etc.

Been doing this for quite some time, but that's not what the new Sync 3/Waze integration will do. Waze will run within the Sync3 system WITHOUT Android Auto.
