I was thinking the same thing, -40?

When was that picture taken? If it was today (I doubt very much), then where the heck are you?

Coldest it's been here so far this fall is +30 F, this week.

Once she warms up i get, a some what accurate read out, i work in northern Ontario atm . In 2 months that read out will be accurate, kicker . Any and all of these newer trucks , suffer come winter time . -35-40c on a non deep cycle/ winter battery , you leave /run any fancy option before or after you can not even make 12volts. Maybe those German engineers had a good idea when they put the battery in the trunk.

i always thought of them as paint protectors from road debris.
a grill cover may be better to help keep engine hot, but then you will have to pay close attention to engine temps unless you get a set of radiator shutters.

My OEM battery made 5 years and 1 month, which I thought was pretty good. When it died, it did it all at once, no notice, first overnight that hit -30F that winter and bang, dead battery. I put an Interstate brand AGM battery in it, and so far, so good. But it's only been 2 years on that battery. My truck sits outside year 'round, and I don't plug it in or use a battery blanket or any other external heat source. It has always started, albeit when it's -40F or colder, it does crank slower. But it starts every time.

But the coldest it gets here is -45 F, and usually only drops to -40 F.

I'm running an Optima AGM battery in my tractor, the OEM Interstate wet cell battery didn't last 1 full winter. Lol. Been 2 years on the Optima too, so far so good. I DO plug in the tractor though, and have an oil pan and hydro sump heater on it. But it's a diesel. I run Power Source mixed with winter blend fuel in it during winter. So far, no issues.

Slowpoke , that is the setup i am envious of , I spray foam for living and the idea of being able to wake up on site and finish work and be home is simply amazing . Why that manufacturer ? What would you of done differently ? Very clean.

being in relatively warm New Jersey, i do not have to worry about batteries freezing. at most we only see around zero a few times over the winter.
gas engines get nothing special, and diesels get plugged in if i know they will be going out plowing at 2 am.
and the only reason i plug them in is so i do not wake up the whole neighborhood warming them up.

If you're asking why the Interstate brand AGM in my truck? When my OEM battery died, I needed one "now". And here in town, Interstate was the only store that had the right size battery (I think group 65? if I remember right?). I've never tried an Interstate AGM before, but I needed one that day, so they were my only choice. The tractor has an Optima brand in it. I've always had good luck with Optimas. My last truck the battery (blue top Optima in that one) was 10 years old in it when I sold it, and it was still fine. But to use the Optima in the superduty, it required an adapter plate, which nobody in town had. They had the battery, but no adapter plate to mount it. So I didn't want to diddle around with fabbing something to work, and I had to get the new battery in that day, so went with the Interstate brand.

The red top Optima fit in my tractor's battery box without issue, and it's also been fine.

I do prefer the AGM batteries for harsh weather (hot or cold) environments.

I had a Chrysler Fifth avenue that ate batteries for some reason. Two years tops and they were done. I put in an Interstate when it died on me on the road and ran it until I sold it 5 years later.
Service station I worked at in high school sold them and we had great luck with them with customers.

Someone is selling a 2010 Raptor where I live with 135k miles. Has some explainable issues except one that bothers me. The owner told me he used conventional oil and changed it every 5k miles but changed the filter only every other time. At this point I feel it's a too risky purchase. Any thoughts from you experienced 6.2 guys?
