Sorry to hear that. Can you give us a little more info? Like did you buy it new, service history?, idle hours, how you use it. We've had some valve issues, but this is the first I've heard of costing a motor. How much is a long block?

Hopping on here, looking at getting an F250 6.2. Does the 6.2 use nylon timing gears?

This will be my second Ford ever, stepping up from a Sierra 1500.

No nylon timing gears that I'm aware of. Not been done in a long time.

I don't see where it says Nylon? That link references a 4.6/5.4L V8.

The timing gears on the 6.2L have to be steel I would reason. The 6.2L engine has VVT with cam phasers. The lower sprocket is on the crank; the uppers are on the cam drives. It uses link-plate cam chains. Where is it that nylon would even survive this application anyway?

This isn't like the old 4.9L 300 six that had (for a while) a nylon timing gear set. That was a disaster that rivaled stupidity at it's finest. Take a legendary engine known for rock-solid running, and put plastic crap on it ...

I would ask for proof that the 6.2L has nylon, otherwise it's a farce.

One camshaft GEAR is $235.00 .. not nylon. no photo from Ford..

the 6.2L is based on all Ford overhead camshaft engines "V" Boss ... just like the V10..
