6.2L longevity

In my past life I used up a few pinion seals on my work trucks, I think it's from dirt, road grime and hard running. I did loose one to a piece of barbed wire that caused a very bad leak that almost cost me a rear end.

My last truck was a 2004 Ram 2500 with the Cummins, and it died last year at 167,000 miles due to a busted ring - clearly my experience was the exception to the high mileage diesel expectations. I'm 72 and just ordered a 2019 F250 SC 4x4 with the 6.2L gas engine. The plan is this will be my last truck and last me till I can't drive anymore. I average about 15K miles per year and tow a 8,000 trailer about a dozen times a year. I'll retire in another year or two and then we'll be hitting the road more often but still can't see doing more than 20-25K miles a year. So a 20 year expectation (I'm optimistic) of 20K per year would require something that will last 400,000 miles. I currently use my vehicle as a daily driver so yearly mileage estimates could be wildly off. I plan to drive it till the wheels fall off - - - then put on new ones and keep trucking.

I have 2012 F250 Lariat 4X4 with 126,000 miles just did spark plugs Coil boots and wires. I noticed she seemed to be getting a little doggie in the bottom end so I did the tune up. I’ll tell you that made all difference in the world. Just like she was when I purchased her in 2013 with 18,000. My mileage increased back to 13.4 around town form 12.6 and when you hit the pedal form a stop she jumps again. Other then the tune up I have done nothing but regular oil changes every 4000 miles. I use motor craft oil and filter.

As an EX-diesel owner, I am happy to see these kinds of numbers to go along with the power. This is likely my last truck/tow vehicle, so knowing it is capable of this mileage is comforting.

I don't think mine is going to last too long. It has a light knocking sound at idle when cold....and when hot, it has a louder squeal/knock/whine. It's loud, and quite embarrassing...especially at drive thru's.
I'm gonna take it in for warranty work next week hopefully and ask them to have a listen...leaking battery, and the e-brake pedal has a catch in it.

Hi everyone. New member and first post.I bought my 16 Lariat SC long bed new after reading the info on this forum and also driving an identical xl version at work that i would plow with in the winter and perform general duties with it. The durability of that beast inspired me to choose the 6.2 over the diesel and hearing guys like Flatbed Ed and his experience gave me all the more confidence. My Lariat is a daily driver and frequent road trip machine for my girl and I. It has close to 53000 miles and hope to get ten times that out of her after my retirement 😁. Full synthetic every 3000 and keeping the rpm low when I can and being mindful of the maintenance schedule make me think I’m setting it up for success. Zero issues from day one. Fantastic truck!

Blackhorse4 welcome to the forum!
My 2012 bought new off the lot in 2013 has 170k miles on it now and other than air filters replaced, spark plugs, brake pads replaced, oil changed every 5-7k miles with Motorcraft semi 5/20 oil it's been great truck with no urge of of a replacement yet. Give me another 100k and I'll be a happy camper.
