Hit 400,000 miles today no major issues to speak of Keep On Truckin
Just bought a 2017 F250 crew cab short bed 4x4 Monday, If my truck hits the kind of mileage that yours as I will be one happy SOB. I have put 3000 miles on it in the last four days and I love this truck!
Sorry to hear that. Can you give us a little more info? Like did you buy it new, service history?, idle hours, how you use it. We've had some valve issues, but this is the first I've heard of costing a motor. How much is a long block?
Do not all have the option to see engine hours? My older diesels all do. I've only ever had 1 other 6.2. I can't recall if my 5.4 had it either.
I've only got about 151,000 on my 2012. Just to contribute to the thread.

I mean, I get mathematically that is possible, but is that even legal... Jokes, but jesus man, that is a lot of driving.

You’re right, it is a lot of driving. I’ve had my truck for eight days now and the mileage is 5700 more than when I bought it and by the end of the day it will be 6000. As long as you don’t have/need a DOT number or a CDL no one can tell you how much to drive.

I'm familiar with the DOT/CDL laws. It is still potentially an unsafe amount of driving. Hope you aren't on the road replying. Be safe out there.
i’m not quite sure how 11 hours of driving per day is unsafe but OK.
Ah great, you're on of those "last word" guys. To answer the (inferred) rhetorical question. You showed a photo of you hauling a camper. You said 3000 miles in 4 days time. Now you are saying 11 hour days. That puts an average speed of 68MPH, which seems pretty high to me. Roads in my area are 75, but maintaining that for 11 hours just isn't a thing. The 14/11 hours DOT allows also includes you going to the bathroom, refueling, eating ect. I realize it isn't illegal to drive that long in non commercial applications, but you drove essentially from New York to California. According to Google 44 hours is best case scenario. It is probably of no consequence to my safety; I just want you to be safe for yourself and everyone on the road.
Based on this thread you should get plenty of mileage out of your truck.

you are a wise wise man. So you think. Just because there’s a picture of my camper on here does not mean that it’s behind my truck every single day. That would be kind of silly.
I'm generally a 16 hour driver. Averages out to approximately 800 miles at 50mph with stops and all.
A little better if it is an LA-Houston trip as I hit El Paso after 12 hours either way usually.
Towing, I don't do as much and less miles by a ton. 350 or so is fine unless it's push it time.
On the scoot, 600 is my limit for a day of riding heading somewhere. Butt says get off by then..
Last July I had to do a longer one. 465 miles on a scoot followed by a shower and 475 miles in my Charger to get to Jackson, MS. Long assed day there now.. Left on scoot at 4:30 AM and arrived in Jackson at 12:45 AM that night/morning..
Just got my new 2018 6.2L F250 today!
I'm on board, for better or worse, with this new engine. Never had the 6.2L before; coming out of an ol' reliable 7.3L and a Duramax (both were great engines), but I'm not into all the garbage on the new diesels, so it's back to gas for me.
I have done .. on a motorcycle.... 1,300 miles in 18 hours... twice over a 3 day weekend.... 6 years running....... I was in my 40's....
Dennis J.. followed along
Cleveland Ohio, to Tampa Florida... depart Friday evening and arrive in Tampa 12 noon Saturday..
depart Tampa Florida for Cleveland Ohio 7am Sunday... and arrive before 10 pm... and go to work on Monday at 7am...
and this was before the interstate system was completed..... like the West Virginia turnpike..
or my last long motorcycle vacation... Ohio, Texas, California, Washington state, Wisconsin, Ohio..... 15 days and 7,300 miles.. I was 52 years old.
Bob P.. followed along.
some can do long distance... others can NOT.... that is life..
Totally get it Chuck..
I was on a shovel from 78 until 2006 when I bought a 94 Ultra Classic. The shovel would kill you riding over 450 a day.
The ultra is no problem doing 600 a day. Not rushed enough to go further on it as the butt is still sick of it after about 10 hours or so.
The OL and I did a 17 day, 4800 mile one a few years back on the ultra pulling a cargo trailer. Combination of camping/hotels/cabin thing as we were doing the Black Hills from Houston. Pulled a pop-up bunkhouse trailer with it all over the place also.
Ditched both as the OL is more into more comfort these days so we're doing a TT for camping now and I do the bike trips solo these days usually.
Personally, I love driving. Traffic doesn't bother me a bit as I lived in SoCal for 15 years in the 80's-90's. Just change radio channels if you get bored sitting.. LOL..
