Here's why I'm not in favor of having two threads going on the same topic: On just this one thread I keep seeing reference to the test connector having a "1" on it when it should have 5 volts. If we aren't getting codes shouldn't this be run to ground? It doesn't seem correct and yet there seems to be no answer.

My STI connector has +5vdc when the key is turned on. My code reader grounds this signal when the "test" button is depressed, and the test starts.
When doing this manually, STI is jumped to the SIG RTN, which grounds STI, and the test starts.
I suggest you start opening up connectors, clean them well (contact cleaner), then add some dielectric grease to each connector. Look for water traces.
Another thing you can check are the pins in the 2 computers that you have. Are the pins the same and in the same position? You can put your computers side by side and check the pins.
Make sure there are pins in the computers for 17, 22, 46 & 48.
There are some missing pins because they were not needed at the time or an engineering change was applied.
It is sometimes hard to keep your generations straight and what pertains to what... and sometimes remembering who your audience is.... I've done it before, I think everyone has.

True. I think the Mustang 5.0L had Sequential Injection introduced in 86'.
I should have waited to order until I was sure I had the right computer. Don't know if they'll take it back, but I'll try to sell it on Ebay if they won't. Still can't find the right ECM. Places like auto zone and advanced auto list hundreds of ECM's that they say are an exact fit, but the numbers are all wrong.

Since you mentioned it, yeah, you should have consulted the team of lads here trying to help you before spending money.
But, like I said, all the "S1B" versions I’ve seen were "GS1", so we'll hope for the best.
Post the label when you receive it. Compare the pin configuration to your other computer before you install.
If it is the right one, clean the pins, it’s been sitting on a shelf for years. You can re-grease after your troubleshooting is completed. V~
