Hey, don't dis those of us at or close to 70. I'll be there in less than a year. And, I think my memory used to be better, but .... I really can't remember.

Well, considering I hit 70 back in May, the good part of it at 70 1/2 apparently the tax on IRA withdrawals goes down and apparently no penalty. I was able to pull a chunk out to cover my engine rebuild.

On the overlays, I have a number that I scanned and a gentleman on eBay who I bought some from sent me. He is trying to, just as we are document this stuff before it vanishes completely.

List of mine, 1B, 4A, 5, 5A, 6, 9, 9A, 10A, 10C, 10D, 11, 17A, 20, 21, 24

OK, I forwarded subford's (another Bill) e-mail messages + files to Gary, maybe they'll make their way to Festus if need be.

Page 62. Look it over.

You will need to remove the connector to the ECA/Computer. Disconnect Battery Positive terminal first.

You will need a paperclip, and an 18-24” flexible wire with alligator clips on both ends. Under the driver’s side, connect one end of this new wire to a good ground, (the emergency brake is not a good ground). Open/bend up one end of the paperclip, connect the other end of the wire to the unopened end of the paper clip.

STO - Insert the now pointy end of the paperclip in pin 17 on the removed ECA connector. (be sure you have good connections and the right hole).
Move yourself and meter to the self-test connector under the hood.
Set meter scale to 100 ohms, connect neg meter lead to neg battery post.
Connect pos meter lead to STO test connector (201), second slot from the left on the bottom row (4 slots in the bottom row). Note resistance if any. Note meter reading.

SIG RTN - - Move the paperclip to pin 46 on the removed ECA connector.
Connect pos meter lead to SIG RTN self-test connector (259), second slot from the left on the top row, so the one on the right (2 connectors in the top row). Note resistance if any. Note meter reading.

STI - - - Move the paperclip to pin 48 on the removed ECA connector.
Connect pos meter lead to STI self-test connector (100), this is the single wire (separate wire) next to the test connector. Note resistance if any. Note meter reading.

Let me know if this is not clear to you.....

Self-test Fuel Pump connector continuity check;

You will need to remove the connector to the ECA/Computer. Disconnect Battery Positive terminal first.
Pull the Fuel Pump Relay, the same wire goes there.

You can test the continuity path between pin 22 on the ECA connector (center holes, second hole from the bottom) and the fuel pump self- test connector (97), 4th slot from the left on the bottom row, all the way to the right (4 slots in the bottom row). Note resistance if any. Note meter reading. (this is unrelated to pulling codes, but I think you said, this connection did not turn on your pump for you earlier)

Hi Vincent -

I'll get on these tests this morning and report back to you.

Good morning, Vincent!

Tests are completed. My voltmeter's lowest setting is 200 ohms.

Pin #17 - Reading was 20._ It fluctuated a bit between 20.6 and 20.1.

Pin #46 - When I first connected the reading was at 41., but then nothing.

Pin#48 - Nothing.

For the Self test Fuel Pump relay continuity check, I got a reading of .4.

I have no idea what any of this means with regard to the functionality, but I'm guessing there's a problem with #48. I'll wait for your response, when you have time.

Thanks for walking me through this. It's new territory for me.

When you say "nothing" on pin 48 & 46, do you mean all Zeros? (000.0) or (1)?

Vic - Pin 46 looks to have capacitance on it by going to 41 and then 0. That suggests there may be water in the harness.

I'm guessing it may be operator error, or a loose paper clip........

Yeah, he seems to have a water issue somewhere on these rainy days, no doubt the harness or connectors will hold the water for a while.
