OK, Vince -

After cleaning and greasing ALL connectors including those to sensors and fuel injectors (except the bank under the intake manifold), I hosed down the car and engine compartment. I gave it a good drenching and especially sprayed the connector to the fuel pump. Started right up. The true test will be if it rains overnight or I hose it down again tonight and let it sit and try to start it first thing tomorrow, if it starts then. But I think it will and what you offerred did the trick.

I ordered a new ECM (E5TF-12A650-S1B,101558,JRG) from some junk yard in Jersey. We'll see if that cures the inability to get codes. I'll let you know.

Thanks for hanging in there with me (the same to ctubutis and Gary)!

The catch (program) code should be GS1 and not JRG.

Yeah, you really need to pay attention to all those details (program code revision, aka catch code) when you go buying a new computer; sometimes you can come across one that "might/could/should work" but they're not at all a generic, plug-n-play-type of item and easily swappable.

Your truck is a 1985 302 automatic trans 2wd and the eighth character in your VIN is the letter 'N' correct?

I have 2 or 3 of those early EFI 5.0 EECs left over from Archion's debacle with his. He brought them and the spare harness set to me, since I had bought them when we were dealing with it. I think there were 8 or 10 changes between mid 85 and the end of production in 1986.

One thing on those to take a long hard look at, near the battery negative post, attached to it, is a plug with a black/light green wire (or pair) that grounds the entire EEC system. It is a common issue on these as the connector is not a weather proof one and any extra resistance will drive the EEC crazy.

Was one of them to add code readout?

They had a test plug pair up by the MAP sensor and solenoids in the right front (see the 86 EVTM). One of the big problems was the adjacent ground connector.

Yes, the EVTM shows it, but did all of the computers support it?

The "JRG" listed may be meaningless.
Call them to verify the three digit code in that right hand block, if it is not GSI, then see if you can cancel your order. I agree, should be a GS1.
There are some at that site for about $50. `+ shipping. I saw a "SB" version as well.
I’m guessing the version progression is SA – S1A – S2A – SB –S1B – S2B

What is the date of build for your truck?

Will have to wait until another rain (probable today) to see if the fuel pump/injector engagement issue has been cleared up. Or, I could just hose everything down again and test it out, which I'll likely do.

Seems you're leaning to the ECM as the problem with regard to pulling codes. Since the 85 second half of the year was the first EFI for the F150, would you recommend I search by the year 1986, or doesn't it matter?
I would not recommend a 86', a few changes that year, the computer was programmed to run in a limp mode if a sensor fails.

I have seen a date code of Feb 85', VIN "N" with your same system. Mine is dated July 85 VIN 'N', and most likely the same model as yours.

I hope you redirected that "boot (drain)" away from your connector??
