I've worked in manufacturing and distribution for 22 years now. JIT is a beneficial system and most everybody uses it to one degree or another. When you deal with quality vendors, the system works great and troverman is correct, it increases profits significantly (less warehousing space needed and increased inventory turns are the primary benefits). For the system to truly work though, intensive, constant, proactive communication is needed between supplier and customer. Despite the best efforts, there will always be unforeseen issues. I'm certain the folks at Ford know all of this much better then I do. I do have one thought though. Would a person want to start a newly designed product with newly designed components with little inventory on the JIT system? I would think for that initial first build....I would think you might want to build up a little more inventory than you normally would have for that first build. After the bugs are worked out and the line is rolling, cut the inventory back and let JIT roll.
Like the rest of you, I've had a VIN for Months and a Widow Sticker for weeks. The truck has been in a "production" status for at least two weeks now. Estimated ETA is 9-11. I don't know how much stock I put in that date right now, but at least I have a date. The old ride has been gone for a month and the garage is pretty bare. Ahh, I'm just anxious for the new ride. Been waiting 10 years though....what's another month.....or two-lol.
Anyone recently got a build date for an F450? I ordered mine the day the order banks opened and still nothing which is unusual for my dealer. Also notice thought other large dealers have several F350's marked as coming in, but even autotrader shows only a handful of 450's. Originally Was expecting to get it in the next four weeks!

Force 74. I have the exact info on my order regarding the dates. Chat even gave me the 9/11 ETA date. Build date 8/17. My order is a loaded cc,lb,6.7 VIN 21600. Hopefully we will see the trucks in Sept. Still no ETIS build date. At least my old F-350 has not sold yet.

Well, ETIS says my truck was built 8-10 and ETA is 9/4. You guys are a week behind, assuming Ford isn't missing parts to complete your builds. I wonder if ETIS gets it wrong with build dates? I mean, is that date the scheduled date or if there is a date in there, it means it has been done?

Its a F350 CCSB SRW Plat.. Ordered 6-10, Dora 6-23, Dealer Stock Priority 20
ETIS still shows 30.11.0002 which I believe is just a place holder date, but when I check with Ford Chat....they say its in "production", but they've said that for two weeks now. . I've learned a lot from all the folks in the forum, but I guess we're all in a "wait and see" pattern. On a positive note....I save a little more money each month for the down payment. A person's got to find a silver lining somewhere.

I ordered a Platinum Plus F450 within a few days of order banks opening and it was built a couple of weeks ago but is still waiting transport out of Kentucky as of my checking yesterday. At least it is built I guess.

I am not sure how much to trust the interweb services designed to keep customers informed. Fidel had his truck on the way to his driveway before it disappeared. Several others have been totally in error as to model and trim level. And with the build dates and ship dates in turmoil now is a good time to take a deep breath and hope you have the right information. Good Luck, I hope it all holds true.
I've still got a build date of 9-6 but with the people who ordered way ahead of me and still don't have there trucks I'm sure I'll be bump out . Order 7-16 so I'm ok with that . I hope everyone gets there trucks this next month and I'll wait one more
toddstang posted in another thread that we should expect a 3 to 4 week delay. Guess we better get comfortable. 😔
3-4 weeks? Shoot fire. Well at least we have some information and I'm thankful for that. Its better than nothing. However with that, I'm going to get an adult beverage.....or ten.
