Welcome to the Forum. I believe the Laredo is a Fiat product, that may be what the other poster was saying. And you are not supposed to do anything other than enjoy and learn from your time spent here.

Fiat product? That is a new term to me. Could you expand out on that?

Fiat Chrysler builds a Jeep model Laredo. I am not familiar with a Ford product with that name. Did you per chance mean "Lariat"?

You are correct.... It's a Lariat!!!! Not a Laredo. My bad. Been out of the Ford community since 1988 or so. Actually, I just haven't had Coffee yet.

Well I have a Lariat on order also and expect it to be a fine vehicle. It is a retail order so I probably will not get a VIN until August but I have been told it will be picked up and built as soon as the OK to Sell announcement is made. I guess I'll see how accurate that information is when August gets here. Seems like forever to wait, especially seeing you all getting build dates etc right away. Congratulations to you!

Rasalas....mine is retail also and I still do not have a VIN or date as of yesterday. Salesman says they have nothing for me yet. Is this normal for all of us with Retail orders or should it have a VIN now??? I tried to find the chat to ask Ford but I only found the SYNC chat. Can someone direct me to the Chat that others have mentioned to see if I can locate my VIN? Thanks, Ken

Ask your dealer to change your order to Dealer stock, and you should get a VIN within a couple days. MY dealer changed mine to Dealer Stock on Monday and I got my VIN this morning.

If it is Dealer Stock order, you will get your truck sooner too. Ford wants to stock the Dealerships first

Don't expect a retail VIN until after the "OK to sell" is issued by management. At that time all the major flaws in the assembly process should be ironed out. Regional Manager indicated that would be in early August, depending on the roll-out. I have been with my current truck since 2001 and 240,000 miles. Another month will not hurt anything but my little boy anticipation.

If you want to find the chat rep go to Future Vehicles, 2017 Super Duty and start to build your truck. If they are available they will pop up and ask if they can help. Give them your Order #, Dealer ID# (Fxxxxx) and your last name. They will check the order. This morning mine is still "processing, no ETA". The dealer check comes back "Processing, cleared". I asked to change to stock order last week and the Regional advised against it after past experience. I wouldn't bother with Ford Custom Order Tracking | ordertracking.ford.com since the chat rep indicated it was still in beta testing and results are spotty. Been in Beta a couple of years now.

What were the reasons he advised against it?

The OK to Sell or Ship date is after all known problems on the assembly line have been corrected. Testing the first run vehicles is occurring during this period as well and any issues with these trucks need to be corrected before they can be shipped and the line configured to eliminate these. It sometimes takes longer to accomplish the corrections to that vehicle than building a new vehicle. The early trucks off the line are sure to have delays in production, new employees being trained and malfunctions in the supply lines which lead to a stop and start line. Right now the new body plant is having issues, as is expected, with panels having to be hand ground to tolerance and some re-paints due to spray problems. These things always happen, especially with a complete body change. I understand also there are no F-150 parts being utilized and that all panels are coming out of the entirely new stamping/body facility at Louisville. The new frame line is also having corrections made and is slowing startup. I am sure any trucks passing inspections of the first months run will be good. I would rather wait, however.

I have a VIN and have had it for several weeks now, no build date. I did get a call from my dealer this morning that they were informed there is a hold up with the "Ultimate" part of the Platinum. I ordered a Platinum Ultimate, something to do with the cameras and/or blind spot and/or lane departure.

They suggested they revise my order to remove the "Ultimate" and add back in the roof and possibly whatever other options may not be holding up the processing. Apparently in the process of trying to revise my order, the could not due to a message of "hold on order change". He stated "This means that yours may be one of the 7% that actually makes through as ordered".

FYI and FWIW
