Thanks man, but I bought the kit with my commercial account for like $50 or $60. Just save them and use them on the other head lol....

Oh yea no problem! I need to get myself a commercial account! I suppose I have to work on something professionally then though.

I'm pretty pleased with Rockautos prices normally though.

What are your plans when you get the head off if the ring is broken? Pulling the block and rebuilding it?

You know, your kid will need a good running powerstroke when he gets to be 16, so you'll want this motor to last until then!

Edit: That's right, I read you are rebuilding another engine somewhere I thought and you just reminded me in the post on my thread! Yeah that makes sense to use that instead of this one. Are you just pulling the head in the truck now just because it's quicker than pulling the motor currently? I shouldn't have taken me so long, but it ended up taking me like 3 weeks to finally get the motor pulled from my Bronco when I started. Thankfully my "free time" is actually more of my own time now so I can work on this. I can't imagine how busy and stressed you must be raising a kid! Eventually I'll get there, but I'm not ready for quite a long time.

Once I remove the head tomorrow (if I have time) I'll see if it's worth it, depending on how much damage if there's to much it's coming out.

Passenger head is off. And look what an 800K engine looks like

Cylinder 1

Cylinder 3

Cylinder 5

Cylinder 7

Surprisingly the cylinder walls are in great shape considering the abuse it went thru work and the hell it suffered caused by me lol.. this block might still be salvageable, still got to remove driver side head but seeing the piston on cyl 7 it might just have to come out. Here's is to why my engine started to knock, have blow by and have higher EGT my guess is that the compresdion piston ring broke the head is in actual great shape the valve springs in the other hand are worn to **** lol..

Here's the head

Not bad, not bad at all, no worn out intake valves like you see in dusted engines.

Oh almost forgot the gasket didn't look compromised, I'm beating it's the driver side. I didn't even bother with compression check after the blow gasket, oh well.

Wow man, that block looks pretty clean considering the mileage. I hope it's just a matter of time before rebuild time!

You I was surprised myself, you can barely see the cross hatches but they are there. I just came from the machine shop and the gut is going to charge me $10 a rod to install and machine the rod bushings that's freaking cheap, unlike the other machine shop who wanted $40 a pop, no thank you.I'm sending vthem out next week so all that's going to be left is rebuild, hope you guy with building 7.3 chime in and help me out lol....

Finally things are moving along, today was a productive day, well not much productivity but the last piece of the puzzle is getting done, took the rods to the machine shop should have them by Friday or Saturday. The last thing is to take the block and camshaft to the machine shop to get the bushings done, I tried fitting the stock SD cam and would go in,duhhh forgot I was going to put a "stage 1 cam" what ever the **** that is but decided to keep the old one, till I can afford E-fuel and we'll the new became bearings need a bit of milling to accommodate the Mules cam. I'll update and post lots of pics when I start getting everything together.

Question, should I go with Smith Bros. Push rods or can the stock ones handle the 910 Comp springs? Also will I need to shim the valve springs if so where can I get them and how can I determine how much of a shim will I need?

The shims come with the 910 comp springs. I would get the smith bros push rods because of the extra strength of the springs. Here, this will put you to sleep at night, lol

I'm sure you'll be excited to have it done! I know I am with mine. I just have to wait for my bellowed up pipes to get ceramic coated which I really hope they are done tomorrow. That way I'd probably have my Bronco running this weekend.

Otherwise, I may have to wait until next weekend!

What did you do with the engine in the truck? I assume the machine work you are having done is on your other engine right?
