Only thing worse is the motor in my 76 is the same color.. :-( guess that will get pulled to be painted.

I decided to use cat yellow, it was between JD green, Navistar Blue, or stock black but stock wouldn't do, it had to catch some attention ya know and also it would easier to find leaks if when it does happen. Oh and the over spray was cleaned with brake cleaner look good as new once I sprayed it and cleaned it, the oil passages on block and timing cover got cleaned as well over all its clean.
I wasn't too keen of yellow but grew on me when that was the only paint I had when I started rebuilding the turbos on the work trucks.
Now time to get the old heart out of the Mule and install this one.

Ha!! It's was hard choosing the color but in the end should look good when it's sitting on the Mules painted engine bay. I was thinking of doing a wire tuck like you see on the import scene, makes the engine look like its floating in the engine bay but we'll see.....

I really wanted to try and clean up the wires when I re-did my motor but I ran out of patience to do that.

It seems like it would be very difficult to clean up the wiring on these motors with everything that's going on in there. I was considering buy/making some type of hard/rigid wire loom (like aluminum or something) to hide the bulk of the wiring harnesses in so it looked cleaner. I'm not really sure how I'd go about that yet though.

I didn't like the color at first but it really looks good. You did a very good job. Hope it runs just as good for you!

Some progress was made replaced every seal on the long block, painted the new oil cooler, oil cooler end caps, new oil pump housing painted, the fuel lines got new Parker seals, installed new injector cups with green sealant so I can run ELC, installed rocker arm and brackets, pushrods, and glow plugs, just need the injectors and oil pan and should be complete. Here's some pics so all of y'all can enjoy.

Looks killer! I like the Cat color too. What about the green sealant? I'm running Rotella ELC but haven't done my injectors yet, what do I need to do?

I guess its the glue under the injector cups that don't get along with ELC.

The sealant after late 99 is compatible with ELC ours won't and if you put ELC on your engine fuel will start to leak into the cooling system.

Thanks for the heads up, sounds like I need to do injectors sooner than later. What type of sealant did you use?
