Howdy Roy, I have one in my office at work. It's a Makerbot Replicator 2. We use it to test component designs and make production parts.......and truck parts.
WOW.......
What does it cost to make the part you showed...??
3D printer access...that's awesome Gavin!
*jealous*
No kidding! Maybe sometime in the next few years, the prices will reach consumer levels. It would be fun to have the ability to design something then print it out.
Those mirror brackets are the bomb Gavin. Since its my day off, laundry & dishes done, I am on free spool, so have time to read, and re-read your thread. You have not missed a trick. Even old sailors & CB's love it. Including this old bubble head.

Thanks Pat, the wood grain plastic sheet was rippled so I just hacked it out.

Oh yeah? As a matter of fact I glued in some Real Wood Veneer on mine. Got it at Parts Express on-line (in OH). Then stained and POLYed it. I think I got some of the roll left if you need it.
Afternoon Gavin, your project is coming along nicely, as expected by all. I put a set of 2500 lb air bags on my '88 F350 diesel dually, and they helped a lot. I hid the fill taps, inside the rear tank fuel/fill access port. One on the left, for the left, and on the right for the right side... just so's I could remember.
Too cool on the door panels.. did the sound deadener help any? I've thought of doing that, and wondered just how much it would help..??
Wait a few years the prices keep coming down and the quality keeps getting better.

Good question Roy, that part has a volume of 2cc, the density of PLA plastic is 1.25g/cc and a 1kg spool of PLA filament is $22, Amazon Prime. So it's 2cc x 1.25g/cc x $0.022 per gram = 5.5 cents. The cost for electricity is less than 4 cents. The printer runs at 180 watts while it's printing and the part has a 30 minute printing time, so that's .09 kWh. It's slow and the surface finish is rough, but the parts are fairly rugged depending on the design of the part.

My boss has the same printer in his office so I have a backup and he gets to play too.

Good job Gavin. Looks good as always!
Hi Doug! Check out Thingiverse. You will be amazed at the stuff that's "ready to print".

Thank you for your service! I hope you had a relaxing day off and thanks for the complement!

Thank you Jeff, I appreciate the offer. Since I'm replacing the wood grain cluster with the F600 cluster I just decided to make the interior blue, black and chrome. I hope it looks okay.

I'm going to run the bags of the on board compressor but I'm not sure how I'm going to control them yet. The sound deadener works damn good. Closing the door on the F100 sounds like a big tin can getting wacked on the side. The highboy now gives you a nice thud. I'll have to make a video of shutting the doors on both trucks.

The link and address are blocked at work. I'll try another device later on. I'm making perfume right now, in addition to goofing off.

LMAO! Had my shoulders bouncing like crazy. I pictured it in my mind. Only with medieval arrows instead.
