Hey Ed,
Put the 185 amp and rebuilt Ford 120 amp in this weekend. First time I've seen over 14 volts!
Thanks

We maintain inventory of the DC Power product to smooth out these sorts of issues for our customers and would be happy to ship you a fresh replacement out to you any time you'd like to keep you on the road.

I bought a 185DC alternator from ED, based on the advice of this site. It's about a year old now, seems to be fine. What happened? Why did the collective minds change on this product? I have never communicated with DC directly, but I had a new alternator in 3 days from ED.

I don't know that the collective minds have shifted. The product remains incredibly awesome.

The concerns are related generally to availability issues and availability promises made by DC Power that were unable to be kept due to supplier issues. Further concerns surrounded a bad batch of parts that I'm pretty sure DC Power is responsible for identifying for their supplier. DC Power's response has been to set people up with replacements from different alternator lines while the parts manufacturer determines a solution, but sadly this process is taking just a bit.

Meanwhile, we are working with DC Power as we are a stocking distributor to minimize any downtime for customers by offering to ship replacement product out of our inventory.

For us, it's all about helping people as much as we can, where we can.

Thanks again Ed, since you only have one of these in stock I will wait on DC. If you had 10 I would have taken you up on it, you just never know when your next order will have one of those on it. I would hate to see you have to wait for one since they take so long to get.

Are you getting a rebate of price considering the downgrade?

We have a pallet of the non-anodized (non-colored) 270's. These are what we sell a TON of.

I think I actually counted two each of the various color options. Those tend to sit longer since few want to shell out the extra nickels to get a customized color for something that sits under the hood of their truck to be seldom seen. That said, I just sold one today.

You want to hear something bizarre? On Oct 30 I ordered an alternator from mechman, I have a paypal receipt for 361.95. Today I received a DC power alternator at the house... I wasn't home somebody else signed for it. It has my name on it. What the heck!

No mistaking the milled aluminum case with DC power inscribed. No packing slip, no idea which alternator this is either. Was I comped?

No mistake, you have my pre-painted alternator.

I'm thinking they sent my pre-painted DC to Kevin for pre-approval
They wanted a second opinion from an FTE member that's not you Josh before sending it to Obama for paint, I'm sure since elections are over he will have the time now.
