I plan on upgrading my alternator but I'm torn between The DC Power 190 HD 6G or the 250 HD6G.
The only electrical items my truck powers outside of the normal loads is a dvd play and I plan to add recon halo head lights, and a FASS fuel system. Any advice on which alternator best suit my needs?
AT one time i was an alternator minimalist, using a 140 amp unit. The dc power is my 4th after market unit! I would buy the largest alternator you can afford. You may add a winch or power inverter and the extra power of the larger unit would help out.

Have you had any issues with the DC unit? Also do you know how much of a difference is in the HD 6G units compared to the HD XP units of equal amps?
If both of them are $100 then i would buy them! It cost about that much, the advantage would be the perfect fit/length. I fused mine with a 300 amp surplus fuse from ax-man...

Ed at FICMrepair.com sells a set for around $110 that is designed just for the 6.0

Yes indeed! The 1/0 cable kit sold by DC Power directly is too short for our trucks. The cable kit ordered through us comes from them, includes the fuse block with properly sized fuse, and is a perfect fit!
Blade35 is correct that any I the DC Power are a huge improvement over stock. For those not running aftermarket accessories that drain power, the key consideration is the length of trips (as longer trips provide the necessary time to recharge the batteries) in concert with how much of the post start up glow plug draw you want to cover to further keep your FICM happy. We sell a ton of the 250HD units since they nearly cover the nut and a ton of the 270XP's since they completely do while even allowing you to run the heated seats without concern.
