LivingLarge, your alternator is leaving today. I am also sending it FedEx next day air so you have it for the weekend. Buy the way the powder coating company we use, powder coats the sand rail frames for Funco Manufacturing Co., along with other off road vehicle manufactures. Now that it is assembled it looks amazing all the way down to the factory clutch pulley that should be on a alternator of this caliber.
Josh, my vision is fine...... Don't shoot the messenger... I have known Matt for quite some time, Years in fact. Next time you talk to him tell him DC Dave says hi! I'm not bashing his product or anyone else's for that matter, that would be bad business. I'm just here to inform the forum users of the facts. Hope you all have a great evening out there in diesel land......!
Funny the subject of LL receiving a discount for accepting a lower amperage unit is being skirted over.
Not only should there be a rebate due to the lesser unit but also a rebate due to the extremely long drawn out warranty claim.
Josh
That's my problem too, sent mine in 6-8 weeks ago. Quote from anthony on 11/2/14;"Yes sir, once it is fully complete. The repair is taking a little longer than expected at this time, we'll likely need to replace the unit. I believe we spoke last and I informed you that it was ready to go, that was for another unit in back that wasn't yours. I'll see if I can get more information" It would be nice to put a little fire on this...I wish d.c would send me or give me an eta for the replacement!
Curt, as I stated in my earlier post we are working thru some personnel issues. I personally looked into your RMA and found it had been misplaced. The individual that checks in RMA's is leaving my company today. I have instructed my staff to make sure you get your alternator tomorrow and give you a free upgrade to our 270XP. It's the least i can do seeing that i am ultimately responsible for what happens within my company. I apologize and thanks again for your business. Have a great weekend.
I'm really debating here whether to re-install my replacement or leave it as a backup... I just received it, paint is ok, not nearly as nice as my original SPX-I, no mention of money back for downgrade... As most of you know money is not very important to me, but doing the right thing is! Nuf said, I'm moving on.

The proper thing to do here in my mind to rectify this would be to refund LivingLarge and Curt's05 their money and letting them keep the alternator as a sign of willingness to make things right as their time is worth money as well. This would also expedite corrections in the way business is being conducted at DC power ie: don't misplace RMA's and keep to promised timelines because if you don't it will cost us money. This would be the standup way to handle the situation.
IMO LL should be refunded the difference of the two alternators at time of purchase, unless it is a new model, then he should be refunded the difference between the two. He should not have to pay more then anyone else for the same product.
The down time is unfortunate but not sure you can put a value on it unless it's written into the warranty.

Thank you, that's a positive statement

Reason: spelling error
My first concern was to get my valued customers their alternators. I will be giving LivingLarge credit for the difference. The alternator I replaced is actually our original Bullet proof platform. We use this alternator in class one off-road race vehicles. This alternator is used by the top names in off-road racing. From the Parker 400 to the 1000 mile race at Baja, this alternator doesn't fail. So to consider it a downgrade is not true. Another market we use this alternator is commercial trucking. We had our first service on one just reciently and the only thing wrong with it was the brushes. The truck had logged over 250,000 miles. That to me is a bad *** alternator. Putting one a shelf as a backup should be a crime. Just saying! LivingLarge and Curt, I'm not here to become enemies, I'm here to make sure you have the best product for your vehicles. Make sure you guys have upgraded cables if you haven't already done so. Grounds are just as important as the charge lead. Have great weekend and if you have any questions or concerns send me a e-mail, I'll be here.
Question, are the 3 spacers needed for the 270 install on the 6.0? The Spx-I was a direct fit...
The 270XP is a direct fit as well. The spacers allow the base to clear the water tube bolt on the passenger side. Be sure to use about 1" longer mounting bolts for the installation as well to ensure that you have enough threads holding it on.
