I do have a 140 AMP upper alt. I just got it a short time ago.
It's a G6
I'll let you all know how the equalizing charge did later tonight.

This pigtail is part# W2740 apparently. Anyone have the part number for the alt in a 3 G 140 amp with the smaller 57 or 58 mm pulley, with 8 grooves?
I ordered a 135 amp alt for a 97 powerstroke, and then ordered the small pulley and adaptor harness off ebay. The links for the pulley and harness were posted earlier in this thread. I have been super happy with this upgrade, puts out great at idle! Many thanks again to all the smart guys on this forum, especially Josh!!

Yahiko, what I am saying is the 140 is available as a upgraded single alt, not only the upper of the double set up.n there are many of us up here in Canada with upgraded alts because they will never cope in the winter without one. I am looking into this 3G bad boy. That would be really slick, as I can't wait much longer as my alt is the original 8 years old, 8 winters.

Powerstroke 3G is Lester #7768 and may or may not come with the smallest pulley.

I did try something that I would not normally do and that was to do a
normalizing charge. In other words a controlled over charge. Flooded
cell battery is 15.5 Volts till SG stops changing. It took about 3 hours
to reach that point. I was not happy with the results. I'll have to wait till
the next start to see if it did any good. If not it's a full set of new batteries.

Well some good news today. I guess my home O'Reilly's store is going to
change. The manager replaced the 2nd battery. This is the same store
that replaced the first bad one. They are not so close to me but will
now be my go to store.

It was nice to see 11.7 after a start and not the quick flash of the 10.9
I have been getting.

I will put the charger on the one older battery and charge it and then do
the new one so they start at a full charge and see how that does.

I like that its Lifetime warranty and 200a, but @ $370 and no pulley (which I would probably add a 58mm anyway) and you must use Cable Kit 13-31K ...kinda up there $$.

That's fairly expensive for just roughly 30 extra amps.

But you would get nationwide warranty exchange...

Nice! Looking forward to hearing what voltage you see during cold start.

If I had to guess I would expect to see around 12.8-13.0 volts at the OBD port after start.

Chris
Was your alternator from NAPA, I just recently purchased a reman with a lifetime warranty with 135 amp, took back days later to exchanged for another.. Was a bad alternator, my battery light was coming on and I have 2 brand new Duralast 850's. Replaced with the new one and I have not had an issue, only day 2 though.
