Thanks Cody. I did some more searching and found more picts of the two sizes of 6Gs -- only going by the color of the wiring inside and a bit from the way the front of the alt is shaped, it looks like it's the large case 6G I have.

Does the pulley need to be pressed off/on?

oh yeah, and what's the advantage of triming the plastic other than for access? It looks like it directs air right at the Alt.

The 63H blah blah on my post above, is right off my order sheet, $75 upgrade option over stock...

The pulley just bolts right on with the nut on the shaft. No pressing required. That shroud is "supposed" to direct air to the alternator but IMO it's not really required. The fan stator does plenty enough job moving air up there and besides, with the hood shut and the fan running it's gonna turn the engine bay into a wind tunnel.

Possibly where you live. I'm sure Ford didn't put it there because they had excess money to spend. They possibly installed it to cover all ambients such as 120+ in phoenix or higher in other places. JMHO. I'll keep mine, I paid for it.

I paid for mine but realized I didn't want it. lol Without that top shroud you can actually change the belt without removing anything. With that shroud there it's nearly impossible to reach down past the tensioner to route the belt. Also, it's much easier to get to the kick-stand now.

In other news the alternator was definitely ****ting out. I'm running 14.2 volts now instead of 13.4.

Usually the emphasis has been on FICM health etc when it comes to voltage, but also keep in mind how much brighter your headlights and brake lights will be now.

Extra bonus ya know?

Yea, I hear ya. Before when the battery light was coming on intermittently i would be seeing numbers of 12.8-13.0 in Torque. Now I'm seeing 13.8-14.0. Add in the half a volt drop through the OBD-II port and the truck is running where it should be. I think I'll be plenty set using the large 6G 140 amp with the 58mm overdrive pulley. Best part is that I've got a new lifetime alternator that I can replace at any time through O'Reilly's and I've got a nice and new Gates green stripe belt installed as well. Next time I have to touch either of those will be much easier since the top fan shroud piece is gone. I'll try and get some cold start numbers once the pulley is on.

My truck has dual alt's, can I do it without taking everything apart? I tried for 3 hr's to put the secondary belt on, and couldn't get it, without at least pulling the stator, to unplug the fan. Of course, that also meant removing the shroud too.

Sorry, no clue on the dual alt set-up. Maybe PM Lilpooh, he has a dual alt set-up and has taken his engine apart numerous times.

I talked to a buddy earlier today about his source for those connectors and he has been dry since the beginning of the year, sold out.

Although, you "could" take a 3G harness pigtail, loop the yellow wire onto the charging stud, and piggy-back or "wye" into the LG/R wire and leave the existing 6G plug alone, unplugged.

So, in theory, you sort of hack the factory harness and yet retain the ability to run either a 6G or 3G no issue.

Yea, that was my thoughts to was that the supplier for those connectors was dry. No way I want to pay that ridiculous price for the Powermaster one. I'll just stick with my 6G setup.

Cody, so you ended up using the 140 amp 6g large case from a dual alternator setup?
