Now if we could just get that air flow directed at it.... I actually had early failures of them in 911s, so I wouldn't base my purchase on that experience. But someone needs to be the 1st....
Wonder who Bosch has building them at that price....?
Very few places will replace the good one too. Esp. if they have the equipment and personel to test them.Try to get Ford to replace a good one even tho they say they should be replaced in pairs. The Everstart battery I had in the mustang in my sig. made it almost 4 years. Not debating batterys just stating when some one gives me what I consider exceptional service I will let people know. Too many people only pubicize the negative stuff which is also part of the 6.0's legacy. Very few people come here to say what a wonderful truck they have.
You are so right about that.
I took my removed alternator in to have it tested. Guess what ......... It passed
But I have to take into account that it was cold when it was tested.
I'll stuff it back in the box the new one came from and hide it away for when I
have the emergency need.
This is what I paid for mine at O'Reilly
$179.99 + core. That was only $5.00 They must not want it back very badly.
And it comes with the limited lifetime warranty.
So anyone going to let me in on where to get the smaller pulley and a part number for it?
The guy at O'Reilly was unable to find me an option for one.

You asked that and I answered it back on post 114, same one Cody's getting and I verified fitment with seller...
Dan sorry about that bad day yesterday. Dr visit. They
want to stick more sharp things into my back along
wit the drugs they want to add a little electricity.
Ok I went back and looked.
The 3G and 6G use the same pulley.
Also we have an 8 grove
I see that someone was listing the 73.5mm as stock.
So anything smaller will be a plus over stock.

I am so tired of all of this.

Bummer Sean I'm going in for my second MRI tomorrow myself... Congrats on the pigtail score! So are you doing the 3G large case set-up?

Do I have my understandings correct?
Sean
Exactly, the 64mm is super common which some of the OBS 3G alternators come with with, especially the remans, although I think they supposed to come with the 58.
I got the pigtail for when I have to replace this made in China new one.
When that happens I will get a 3G and put the replacement one on the shelf
for later emergency use of maybe just sell it.
Now to do some pulley searching.
Thanks for in info.
Ok, full disclosure here, because Josh asked this Q way earlier in the thread about my start-up voltages. I haven't run Dan for almost 3 weeks and today was an opportunity to get a thing or two done on him (trans pan/filter is 1st on the list), so I needed to drive him over to where most of the tools are.
Outside Temp: low 70s, confirmed with KOEO of 72 on EOT/ECT, but only 11.1V on batt (glow plugs kicking in). When I hit start I got as low as a 10.5V FICM Logic and 45.5V Main. Within 15 seconds was 11.5V and another 15 Seconds 12. Altogether it was less than a minute to have FICM at 48, Batt Volts at 13.8 and all FICMs 13.5 to 14. Interestingly, maybe since it was cool I was seeing some 14.1 and .2s on the Batt for the couple mile drive. Batteries are 10 mos. old...
I'll be interested in what we see with an overdrive pulley. Speaking of which, should I break the nut on the Alt pulley with the belt still on? No way I'm fitting a torque wrench in there, so what should that nut be at torque-wise? (I'll use the calibrated arm method )
Looking at that Bosh Alt it sure looks like mine (same color windings and all) -- maybe same OEM source??
