I think the air checking was for the tranny, you take the valve body off and you use compressed air to check the seals in the clutch packs for leaks.

I wouldn't have much of an idea what to even look for while doing that. And I've confirmed it, motor, trans and transfer case are all going to start coming out Sunday, it will probably take me a week or so to do, this is the first one I have done, so should be interesting.

yeah, air checking the trans is to make sure the trans is put together right and such. i forgot that you need to pull the trans apart to air check it, my bad. anyways, when air checking the trans, you put like 10-15psi into the ports on the pump that feed the clutches. if you hear a good solid "thunk" each time you hit the air for each clutch pack, then the trans is good. when you rebuild a trans you ALWAYS air check it. if it passes the air check then it will work when put in the vehicle.

i guess if you got the trans for $400, why not try it, but at the same time, that is dirt cheap for a 5R.........

Gotcha, I still wouldn't know where to blow air into what whole, and the 5r is cheap if you can find a guy that put a crammins into a SD with a junk 6.0, I found one with 90k for $375 closer to me after I had already bought mine. It's the $850 controller that is gonna get me.

That was all last night, I posted up pics and they never came up, but tonight I got my transfer case out, feeling pretty productive this week. Tomorrow I am going to push for motor mounts and lifting the engine to see everything is off, and Thursday pulling it. So Friday it can be stripped and ready to be dropped off at the shop.

No I don't have engine parts yet, its gonna take the shop two or three weeks because they are pretty backed up so that will give me time to get those. And thanks Justin. The good news is right now that it looks like my transfer case is going to match the back of the 5r

If the radiator support is broken, I like to cut (don't cut the wires behind it) it out making it easier to pull the engain, then I weld it back in before the radiator gose back in.
You don't have to do that, you can get it out with out doing that if you chain short enought you can get it over the radiator support without taking the hood off.
