My opinion is the tighter the better without breaking...

I think 100-110 is acceptable tolerance for the yield rating...

Pretty bummed, the truck has to be together before Oct. 6th for my senior pictures. So that means c6 n/a then it has to come back apart! I will probably drive it until I get a pcs controller and turbo, so that could be till after harvest. I contemplated using a 4r100 or even zf6 to make things simple. But maybe I will stick out with the 5r.

Reading this post from the beginning looks like you are on the right track. Interested in seeing how things come together in the end. Keep up the good work!

Well heads torqued to 110ft-lbs, as I was talking to Justin about getting my cam installed, I have now tricked myself into believing this is how it should go, it pays to write things down thats for sure, can anyone reassure me on this?

I was always under the impression the marks should line up straight. I may not be correct on that but the last IDI I put together ran well with them all lined up.

Never heard of any body running anything but straight up no matter what cam is in these engines. People play with the gas engines but these have always been in the profile as far as I know. And never a hole tooth, small amounts with shims.

If a tooth of retard on the cam but straight on the IP is the goal then the IP gear is wrong, needs to be off a tooth in the other direction. If the cam gear is off a tooth to the left on bottom then for the IP to line up the cam gear needs to be off a tooth to the right on top.

What you have there is the cam retarded a tooth(6.8degrees) and the IP retarded two teeth(13.6 degrees). FWIW it seems to me that the IPs always end up advanced of the marks, so maybe one tooth of advance on the IP is a good idea. And Justin is the expert on his cam so if he says retard it a tooth that's his deal.

But one tooth retard on the cam and one tooth advance on the IP would be the second tooth over on the opposite side for the IP gear.

He needs the cam retarded 1 tooth and the IP timed correct to the crank. This is how racin's stage one cam is run.
