17:1 is awful low i would think

my dad's is running around 27psi with just head studs. he has his cut to i think 20.25:1

I agree, with my "wild" engine, for lack of a better word. Im going to shoot for 17:1, however im also going to have 250cc of fuel and compounds.

I think they are malae The engain is bored .030 so they are .030 bigger around.
The stock face with the valve rellife and the diveit that the injector shoots into.
If someone has a equation I would like to do the math to see what I have.

Remember guys, its all about peak cylinder pressure... not just "boost"...

IDI is a whole other realm when it comes to cylinder pressure...

ok, so how do you figure peak pressure?
that is kinda like saying that anything that will make it light off faster closer to tdc will cause head float. propane, high compression, finer fuel delivery, hotter engine, hotter air charge.

kinda like more fuel more air is good, but don't burn it too fast so that the force is spread out over the stroke.

The mechanical injection pumps can push fuel for around 30 degrees of rotation of the engine at WOT, so theres quite a bit of time to burn it.

You can only do so much, as soon as you create the heat, it's already getting soaked into the surrounding metal, and losing heat on it's own as the mix decompresses during the power stroke.
I wouldn't be surprised if 90% of the power is generated from the 1st 90 deg of turn of the power stroke, after that, I think theres pretty much nothing.

Shop floor got poured today, a week from today it will be hard enough to park equipment on, if it stays warm, 70's today in NW Ohio. Then I will pull it in and start pulling the motor and trans and transfercase to get my engine work done. About the time I get that done, I will be able to afford a turbo and adapter plate, its all coming together nicely!

Careful what you say, My build has dragged on for more than a year. Took me 6 months and 5 engines to fined one with good bores. Now its assembled and I am mocking up the exhaust while I wait for more cash for injectors and glow plugs. Something always goes wrong with the best laid plans....

Exactly....Always plan for double the time... and assume your going to get it done in half the time...3

Well I am shaving pistons .040 and balancing/lightening rods, that will save some money hopefully (if I get it right!). And like you Brad, I am hoping for a A.O.K. block bore. then I will have to get studs, and springs and gaskets to reassemble the block. Justin did you ever find anything out about the main studs?

No, never pursued them.... Rod bolts are a weaker link than main bolts, and we dont even have a source for those, so I kinda left the main studs on the table for now.

Either way, I dont think we will need either unless we find a way to get more fuel than we have access to now.

Ok just checking, I don't want to have to pull this motor more than once, even though I know I will probably have to some time, I don't want to have to do it under those circumstances. You never balanced your engine either did you? That's one thing I'm going to try. And what is meant by air checking? Just jacking up the truck on blocks and letting it role?
