That's great, John. I'm sure it feels good driving after such a long time.

Here is a picture of some Amish cows lazily lying in the pasture on a rainy Saturday in Clinton county PA.

My wife needed Heavy Cream for some soup she was making on Saturday. She is a great soup maker so I willingly obliged. And iidrove my 55 F350 instead of my 54 since it threatened to rain. The local Weis store didn't have the kind she wanted so I drove to Walmart. Their dairy section was being renovated and their selection was small and they didn't have it. So she told me to go to the Amish Store at East End. This at the Eastern end of the Bald Eagle Valley. A lot of Amish from Lancaster County moved here in the 70s and 80s because the farm land was cheap. Many run businesses such as this store. They sell damaged cans, over runs and items close to their expiration dates. Despite the rain the trees on the Bald Eagle Mountains were pretty, kind of subdued this year but pretty nonetheless. I got lots of thumbs up and smiles even from young Amish boys.

No I didn't get a picture of the store but I found one for you online. It ain't much to look at but they have great prices!

They use gas lights and ceiling fans run by compressed air. They use generators to create electricity for the freezers and walk-in refrigerator.

PA has a lot of meat on the hoof!

Modern farming note: the big time dairy farmers do not let their cows out to pasture. My brother in law has 3000 Holsteins they milk 3 times a day. They keep them in the cow barn with feed, silage, hay and water in front of them 24/7. The modern ag science says they give more milk when they eat and drink more. Cows in the pasture are not eating and drinking. They lie in the shade.

I-84 Oregon, Columbia Gorge West bound. Beautiful day! SGGCX2 Dashcam mounted to the right of the rear view mirror. Last of a 9,000 mile trip pulling our Arctic Fox 27-5L.

That is a view that never gets old. Seen it many times on the drive to your neck of the woods. Did you notice how they're coming on the repairs to Old Highway 30, the Historic Scenic Highway between The Dalles and Troutdale? It's been closed since the destruction from the big fire through there a couple years ago.
I took these back in 2012. It will be a much different picture the next time we're able to go through again.
