Thanks guys! Its a 429 big block. I love the exhaust tone on this. It might be a little bit too loud, but Ill have to see how it is when I get the floor mat and insulation in it.
They are spintech prostreet 6000's. The tone in person I would describe as a cross between a chambered muffler and glass pack at idle, but more like a glass pack under throttle with none of the rapping that usualy comes with a glass pack. It has a very clean and natural tone to me.
I got home from subbing today and it was sunny and dry. We had rain Monday and Tuesday to wash the salt off the roads, so I took my 54 out for a drive. It's been sitting in the garage for over a month so I wanted to get it up to operating temp and get the fluids moving.
I went on a half hour drive. Here are some pics.
The ice went out on the West Branch of the Susquehanna about two weeks ago when we got a lot of rain and the river rose. There are huge blocks of ice now high up on the banks.
I went to a cruise in today that our local Car club holds. In Central PA it was 47°, overcast, and windy. There were only 16 vehicles there. I spoke to a couple guys. No one else talked to me or showed an interest in my truck. I had my free hot dog and soda and left after 45 minutes.
So I went on a drive out in the country with my heater on and it was much more enjoyable. I remembered seeing a big 56 dump truck along a tree line at a Christian campground I was at about 10 years ago. So I thought I'd drive out there, see if the truck was still there and ask if I could get some parts off it.
it is a nice curving drive along a creek between two mountains.
I get there and I don't see the truck where I last saw it. Then as I approached the driveway of the house I thought owned the land I saw the truck in their driveway under a tarp. It is a big truck with 20 inch wheels So was it a F600 or and F700? Not sure as the hood emblems are missing. The dump bed was off and the hoist was removed. There was nobody around and despite the sign on the porch that read, "Solicitors will be shot, survivors will be shot again." I knocked on the door. Nobody home...
So no parts for me, but at least someone is fixing it up.
Edit: it must be a F600. F700's had the wider fenders.
a quick ride in the 48 now i need a cold shower that is what i wish mine would sound like but alas no Flathead for me will only be a small diesel cannot get the old flat heads here as easy as over there dam and blast
